The wedding photographer explained how a certain trend is replacing big weddings and shared her reasons for why it is happening.
Many people dream of a big wedding and they save for years to make it happen, either for themselves or for their children. But for most people, it is an unnecessary expense that could be skipped and the money could be used for other crucial things. That is why many couples are now choosing to skip extravagant weddings and go for minimal settings while saving money. This is why many people now believe we won't see many weddings in the future. Wedding photographer Laleh Vahedian–who goes by @lalehphotography on TikTok–expressed how weddings are going to go extinct by 2030 and new traditions will replace them.
"Weddings are going extinct and they're going to be extinct by 2030. So, here's everything you need to know about it," the wedding photographer says in a video. "I am a wedding and elopement photographer, so the fact that I think this, that's saying something." Vahedian pointed out how people might have noticed trends like micro-weddings and elopements. "How lot of people are choosing to elope instead of having the big wedding," she shared. "Those big, extravagant weddings are becoming less and less likely. Micro-weddings and elopements are going to be the new normal." Vahedian explained, "A micro wedding is essentially 25 to 30 people or less, just your closest friends and family where you celebrate with them without having a giant wedding."
The venue is also a significant change when it comes to such weddings. "The alternative to a normal venue would be something like a bed and breakfast or national park or even someone's backyard," the woman revealed. "Now, in addition to the size of the wedding being very small, the price of the wedding is also going to be very small," she highlighted. "You are going to save a ton of money." Vahedian continued, "The other thing I see happening is that with big weddings out of the window, people will be eloping and then having a giant reception later on." The photographer remarked, "Foregoing a giant ceremony in front of a bunch of people, having the ceremony in a giant location and just having a giant party later for you."
Here, people would invite all their extended family and friends. The photographer shared the clip as her hot take on weddings. The video received over 385.5k views and more than 23.3k likes. People took to the comments to share their opinions on the topic. @nina_0497 wrote, "In Europe, the kind of 'micro' weddings are normal (okay, around 40-50 people usually). The weddings in the US are just crazy (money and size-wise). So weddings are not going to extinct, just smaller." @juniper0902 commented, "It's so sad... I WANT a giant fancy dream wedding, but with the world the way it is, I can only afford a wedding that can cater to my closest people."
@asaphelpshasdied remarked, "I spent $200 on the wedding, $600 on the reception. My wife was over the moon. I have a friend who is divorced and paying off a wedding loan. It's insane." @bobbip737 shared, "My daughter married at an inn with just parents and siblings. Reception in our backyard with the 'older guests' for brunch and younger guests at night. It costs less than a typical venue. It was perfect." @kristinausume expressed, "Because a big wedding costs the same as the down payment for a house."
