With cameras capturing every moment at events, some reactions go viral online. That's exactly what happened with a US athlete at the Paris Olympics 2024. Kassidy Cook's surprised reaction to the Chinese team winning gold has captured the internet's attention. On July 27, Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen secured gold in the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard final with a score of 337.68. The US team, featuring Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook, took silver with 314.64 points. Great Britain's Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen followed with 302.28, as reported by Bored Panda. As China's athletes celebrated their victory, Yani jumped into Yiwen's arms and gave a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Cook, standing nearby, had a surprised and amusing reaction to the win.

The picture garnered over 38 million views and has about 860k likes on X. It was captioned, "Priceless US team's reaction to Chinese winning pose." People in the comments shared how they enjoyed seeing the US athlete's reaction. @artsrayne commented, "That the face of 'Wait, that's so cute, we should have done that too.'" @sheddy_memes wrote, "The US team's reaction is priceless! It's always interesting to see how athletes from different countries respond to each other's celebrations." @jolsteam said, "That reaction is like a mix of shock and 'Did we just get schooled?' Love the drama of sports!"

The two athletes from China have been competing together since 2019 and they won their first Olympic gold media at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the past, the duo has also won three consecutive world titles. During the Paris Olympics, Yiwen and Yani started the competition with a back dive in the pike position, which made their fans cheer for them. Their competitors, Bacon and Cook from the US team, also performed the same routines and gave them a tough time after scoring equal points in the second round, reported The Straits Times. However, in the following dives, the US team fell short and ended up with a silver medal. Speaking of the competition, Yani said, "We both hope we can reach the best standards for ourselves and showcase the best of Chinese diving to the world."

In another story, USA Women's Rugby Team's Ilona Maher, who recently won a Bronze medal in the Paris Olympics, gave a fitting response to a fat-shaming comment. In a TikTok video, Maher showed the condescending comment, which read, "I bet that person has a 30% BMI." She responded by saying, "I do have a BMI of 30. Well, 29.3 to be exact." She added that she was called "overweight" all her life. She then said that BMI doesn't measure how fit a person is. Maher then spoke about what she learned from her dietician. "We talked about BMI. We talked about how it really isn't helpful for athletes. BMI doesn't tell you much. It just tells you what your height and weight are and what that equals," she stated.

She then explained, "That's pretty crazy, right? That BMI doesn't really tell you what I can do. It doesn't tell you what I do on the field or how fit I am. It's just a couple of numbers put together. It doesn't tell you how much muscle I have or anything like that." She ended with a sarcastic remark, "So yeah, I do have a BMI of 30. I am considered overweight. But alas, I'm going to the Olympics and you're not."
