She called out her friend for cheating on her husband during a bachelorette party. The bride sided with the cheater — so the Uber driver stepped in

The maid of honor called her friends out on their behavior, to which the bride responded, saying she 'can take her freckled booty home'

Nashville Uber driver Brian Brister (@brianbrister) recently recalled an encounter he had with a bachelorette party group while he was driving them for a brunch. From the very beginning, the group seemed unhinged, gossiping about a cheating scandal. Turned out that one of the women was cheating on her husband, and the bride was unexpectedly defending her. When the maid of honor tried to call them out on the wrongdoing, they cold-shouldered her. Brister, who became an unsuspecting witness to the relationship drama, drove the dejected woman home and jumped on social media to share the story. His August 16, 2026, Instagram video has garnered 185,000 views.

Unsuspecting witness to relationship drama

Brister admitted that he didn’t know the full situation. But since it occurred in his car, he took the liberty of talking about it. A year ago, he was dropping off a bachelorette party group at brunch in his Uber. Despite his presence, the passengers were discussing some private relationship stuff they should have ideally reserved for their Airbnb. From the entire conversation, Brister deduced that the group included the bride, a bridesmaid who seemed uncomfortable, a matron of honor, and a maid of honor who was a "ginger."

Bride on the cheater's side?

Brister was surprised to hear that the bride was siding with the matron of honor, who had apparently cheated on her husband three times that weekend. When the maid of honor stepped in to reprimand and oppose their viewpoint, the bride kicked her out of both the bachelorette party and the wedding, saying that she can “take her freckled booty home.” Forced to be a passive observer of the scene, Brister felt aghast. After dropping the group off at the venue, he waited and drove the maid of honor back to Airbnb and then to the airport for her flight back home. He let her know how amazing and bold she was despite her friends’ criticism.

When group loyalty clashes with honesty

Why do people sometimes go along with dishonest behavior?

Psychology research offers one possible explanation. A study published in Current Opinion in Psychology examined group dishonesty,  or situations in which people's desire to collaborate with or benefit their group can outweigh their commitment to honesty. Researchers noted that people who refuse to participate in dishonest behavior can risk social exclusion — something that appears relevant to the maid of honor's experience.

Yet, many Americans still give in to their temptations for cheating, and maybe enable this cheating. A survey (Health Testing Centers, 2021), cited by Psychology Today, reported that nearly half (47.9%) of the individuals involved in infidelity had confided in a friend. Yet, the vast majority of Americans (76%) believe that affairs are morally unacceptable and “always wrong,” according to research from the University of Colorado Boulder cited by Colorado Arts and Sciences magazine.

Meanwhile, viewers were left with an unfulfilled curiosity, wondering what happened next after the maid of honor returned home. @territobinyoung speculated, “On her way back home, I hope the maid of honor contacted the matron of honor’s husband as well as the prospective groom to fill them in on the matron’s cheating and the bride’s encouragement of it.” @kiverson72 told Brister, “You need to Uber on weekends so we can hear more stories.”
