During a conversation with the popular talk show host Jonathan Ross, the actor was a good sport and left the audience in stitches. Witness the iconic moment that amused his fans.
Not everyone lets their guard down. Many people struggle to express their emotions freely. The thought of being judged by others can be frightening, especially if one’s personality type and way of talking are considerably serious. The same occurred with Hollywood star Vin Diesel; however, the actor shunned this public perception by giving his fans a rare glimpse of his other side—his perfect blend of spontaneity and humor. The gravelly-voiced icon was put to the ultimate test on “Friday Night with Jonathan Ross,” which aired on BBC (@BBC on YouTube), resulting in an unforgettable comical squeak. A widely shared video from the talk show’s archives showed the host brandishing a canister of “weapons-grade helium,” leaving the audience in stitches.

Jonathan kicked off the segment by bringing in helium balloons to test the range of the American actor’s voice. Diesel, who initially seemed reluctant about the idea, decided to embrace the playful exchange. “I have with me in this canister here some weapons-grade helium,” the talk show host jokingly remarked, dropping the white-colored container on his desk. He asked the “Fast and Furious” star if he knew the effects of laughing gas once inhaled. “I have a balloon, a fresh balloon, okay?” said the English broadcaster, maintaining his typical comedic persona. Diesel was also keen to learn more about the helium balloons, so he asked the host to do a live demonstration.
The nearly two-minute footage showed Jonathan not wasting a single moment. He explained the science of helium and teased the audience with what was to come. “You listen to my voice. It's like a normal man's voice—not super deep like yours, not super high like a girl or a baby or a lady or a rock star. Like a normal voice,” the host maintained his wit before inhaling a balloon. “This is me speaking normally,” Jonathan told Diesel as he inhaled the laughing gas, expanding his belly. The audience, including the guest, could hardly believe their ears when the broadcaster wished them a very good morning in a nasal tone. “How are you? I'd like to order some pizza, please,” he demonstrated, sparking riotous laughter among those on set. Even the Hollywood actor was shocked to see the transformation, his mouth wide open in disbelief.
The host then announced that it was Diesel’s turn to test the laughing gas. “We’ll try some action. It’s a brilliant balloon. Let’s do a little bit of uh Vin naturel,” Jonathan joked while handing the helium balloon to the now 57-year-old actor. The Hollywood star was also asked to inhale the giant helium-filled balloon at once. “Take all that down, okay? And then inhale,” the talk show host advised, aiming to get the Hollywood star to speak in an unusually high-pitched voice. Joking that it was illegal to ask too much of him, Diesel remarked, “If I could medicine you, I'd make a brain tumor look like a birthday present.” The helium-induced voice was nothing short of the sound of a cartoon character.
The side-splitting moment gave the audience uncontrollable giggles and also cheered his fans in different parts of the world. Among the countless reactions to the light-hearted banter, @cloudgirl150 suggested, “Vin sounds like an old British lady.” “Love the fact he's never even done this before,” @MrCoderification added.
