Trump throws a big tantrum at a tiny desk, and #DiaperDon trends across the internet

The entire country is currently praying for January to come around, and Donald Trump has yet again shown us exactly why that is.

In perhaps true Donald Trump style, the former President has gone viral once again for fuming like a baby when things did not go his way. At a press conference on Thanksgiving Day, Trump had what can only be called a total meltdown in response to some journalists' questions. The tantrum, which would not have been unusual for him, was made rather comical because of the desk he was seated at—tiny and fitting for perhaps a young child. Of course, social media users across the internet decided to take the opportune moment and run with it using the hashtag #DiaperDon.

Now, all of this is ridiculous enough. However, once Trump saw that the hashtag was trending, he decided to be totally cool about it and declare Twitter a national security threat. Oh, he also called for the termination of Section 230. This is a piece of Internet legislation in the United States passed into law as part of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) of 1996. At its core, it provides immunity from liability for providers and users of an "interactive computer service" who publish information provided by third-party users (like, you know, Twitter). That is definitely not an overreaction at all. Totally. It is completely normal for a person of his stature to act this way.

"Twitter is sending out totally false 'Trends' that have absolutely nothing to do with what is really trending in the world," Trump posted on the platform. "They make it up, and only negative 'stuff.' Same thing will happen to Twitter as is happening to Fox News daytime. Also, big Conservative discrimination!" While it would be great if we all had the time and energy to dissect what the leader of the free world meant by all these things, we do not. Therefore, this second tantrum only riled up Twitter users even further. They began sharing more memes and takedowns of Trump using #DiaperDon. Honestly, the only bright side of all this is the memes and the SNL episode that has just written itself.

Richard Littler, a screenwriter, wrote, "[I'm] still enjoying the #DiaperDon tweets. Let this be the image for which he is remembered the most. An emotional infant with doll's hands in a sh*tted nappy at a baby table, with Washington looking down as if to say, 'What the actual f*ck?'" Perhaps this is the reaction all of us would have had too, if this were still 2016. Nonetheless, it is 2020 and we've normalized Trump's childish behavior to a point where this doesn't even shock or upset us anymore. We're all just trying to find a little humor while we wait for January to finally come around. "Dear God, please, let this circus come to an end," we state in unison.
