Trump deals low blow to teen climate activist Greta Thunberg, she responds with savagery

Donald Trump is a bully. If mocking a man with a disability or reducing a veteran's achievements weren't enough, his latest victim was 16-year-old Swedish climate activist with Asperger syndrome Greta Thunberg. Though she has been the target of many a major news anchor on Fox News, being jabbed at by the President is indeed a new low for the conservatives. In true Trump fashion, the President took to his usual rant platform of choice Twitter in order to make a totally unwarranted sarcastic comment about the environmentalist. However, in an awesome twist of events, Thunberg was able to turn the dim situation around in her favor, The Huffington Post reports.

President Trump initially retweeted a video featuring Thunberg delivering her moving - and now iconic - speech at the United Nations Headquarters on Monday, September 23, morning. She stated in her speech, "People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth." To this, Trump responded, bitter and sarcastic, via Twitter: She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!

Now, tone and emotion policing is not a new concept. It is far more common for young women and teenage girls to experience this kind of policing in comparison to their male counterparts. For example, while Trump is allowed to be—and even praised for being—aggressive or "passionate" in his speeches and addresses, women are attacked and vilified for the same reason. The President's latest tweet is only one instance of such vilification. Thankfully, Thunberg had the best response to Trump's low blow - on someone so many years his junior, no less.

No, Thunberg did not respond to the President's tweet like many of his other adversaries have in the past. Taking swift action, she edited her profile bio on Twitter instead, changing it to read, of course: A very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. What a clapback. Nonetheless, the climate activist has since changed her profile bio back to read what it originally did, that is: 16-year-old climate and environmental activist with Asperger’s. Join the global climate strikes on September 27. That's probably because petty Twitter feuds are above her.

This is not the first time Thunberg was the unfortunate target of a climate change skeptic's unscientific and unwarranted attacks. Earlier this week in an interview with Fox News, Michael Knowles of conservative news outlet The Daily Wire called her a "mentally ill Swedish child." Despite being called out and asked to apologize multiple times by Christopher Hahn, who was also on the interview segment, Knowles simply stood his ground and continued to bully the teen environmental activist. Despite all the hate being thrown her way, nonetheless, Thunberg continues to fight the good fight against global warming, climate change, and government and corporate inaction. Perhaps Trump and his conservative followers can learn a thing or two about active leadership from the powerful young changemaker.
