Woman explains why carrying a water bottle with straw on plane is one of the biggest 'travel mistakes'

Most people opt for air travel due to the comfort it offers and the time it saves compared to other transport modes. But, traveling by flight comes with its own inconveniences. Many travel hacks on the internet are sure to make air travel a bit easier for you. One such hack to watch out for was recently shared by Kat Darby on TikTok based on her experience. Darby who is popular on the social media platform for her book reviews revealed a hilariously embarrassing incident that happened to her while flying with her water bottle that came with a straw in it. 

Warning the viewers, Darby wrote in the caption, "Never fly on a plane with a water bottle with a straw in it." Sharing her story, she said that she had recently traveled on a plane with her strawed water bottle which she felt was quite 'handy dandy.' Feeling so good about having a convenient water bottle, Dary said, "It's absolutely fantastic. I can take a sip of it. I don't even have to tip it up." But she didn't realize that such a handy water bottle would be the one creating a ruckus on the plane once she opened it.

"However, what I did not account for was water pressure," the woman said. Apparently, as the plane took off the pressure inside the bottle had built up and was awaiting to explode the moment she opened it. Darby said that a splurge of water from the straw bottle was bursting out "like a hose" splashing not only on her but on other passengers too. "The row in front of me, the row behind me, the row across from me, the row across from me and up, the row across from me and down," Darby said about the passengers impacted by the splash. 

She believed that she had hosed down around 15 people on the plane with her 30-ounce "squirting water bottle." The outburst of water was so forceful and uncontrollable that she couldn't even stop it. However, she tried shutting it down. "So what I had to do was stick my finger down the hole and then press it down," said Darby and added, "Then it proceeded to spray me in the face." She comically explained her embarrassing situation so that no one would have to face it in the future. "So, learn from my mistakes and never fly with a giant water bottle with a f*****g straw in it," Darby said. 

The video gained nearly 950K views so far and the comments that it received were hilarious. "This happened to me on a red eye. I had just gotten to sleep when I essentially got waterboarded by the water bottle of the kid next to me," wrote @kaitlinwillow. "I did this. It was the fountain that never ended! That really should be on the flight attendant puppet show before the flight," commented @emilyvarnerr. "Thank you for your life experience sacrifice because I would not have thought about it," wrote @healingthehurting.
