Many travel enthusiast often drop the idea of traveling solo due to various safety and security reasons. But Sabina, a seasoned solo traveler and blogger – who goes on Instagram by @girlvsglobe - takes us through the art of safely and comfortably sleeping at the airport in a video. She starts her video by stating that ideally, she would have already passed through security and reached the departure area. However, the timing of her flight doesn't permit this, leading her to share her insights on this 'second-best scenario.' The second best scenario was basically the seating area near the luggage belt.

The first tip that she gave was about a free website called www.sleepinginairports.net that she often uses while sleeping at the airport. She says that it is a game-changer. Sabina goes on to clarify that her recommendation is not influenced by sponsorship but only by personal usage. She relies on this platform herself and highlights its wealth of information and reviews contributed by fellow travelers. This resource is no less than an indispensable tool for any traveler seeking guidance on various aspects of their journey, particularly when it comes to spending the night at an airport.

Sabina then went on to explain the importance of choosing the correct outfit. She appears to be wearing layers, a practical strategy to navigate the airport's varying temperatures and conditions. Anyone who has spent any time in an airport knows how variable the environment can be, from chilly gate areas to overly heated terminal sections. By layering up, you can adapt and ensure that you're as comfortable as possible.

Sabina then mentions having a blanket with her travel gear. She then slyly mentions how she actually stole the said blanket from the airplane, but in her words and defense, "It was the airlines' fault." When sleeping at an airport, especially if you're sleeping alone, safety is your top priority. While there aren't many ways to stay protected at an airport, Sabina gives two major tips. The first one is that there is safety in numbers, and having close friends and family can help ease the mind and prevent possible security risks. If not, be sure to sleep around other people sleeping on the airport.

The second tip she gives is about safety, but not your own. It is about the safety and security of your luggage. As she puts it, "Otherwise, someone could just come along and take it." While airports are generally safe, there is always the risk of opportunistic theft and it's best to take precautions to protect your belongings. In the video, she presents her improvised solution for securing her luggage, suggesting that ingenuity and resourcefulness can go a long way in ensuring the safety of your possessions. What she does is tie all her luggage through one string (her ear plugs) and wrap it around her hand, so a slight pull on the luggage can also wake her up.

When it comes to seating options, Sabina alludes to the fact that not all airport seating is conducive to comfortable sleep, primarily due to the presence of armrests that can hinder your ability to stretch out and rest. However, Sabina hints at discovering a specific position for a more comfortable sleeping posture. She sleeps on her stomach on the seats, below the armrest.

All things said and done, she ends her video by saying, "Wish me luck and good night." Her firsthand knowledge provides a sense of camaraderie to her fellow travelers, assuring them that they can make the best of challenging situations. Be sure to use these tips the next time you're stuck at the airport.
