Holland, who’s 5’8, is dating 'Spider-Man' co-star Zendaya who is about 5'10.
We're so over toxic masculinity making people feel insecure or ashamed of who they are. It's almost 2022 and people are still talking about Tom Holland being shorter than his beautiful, taller Spider-Man co-star Zendaya. Why is this still a thing? Zendaya is about 5'10, while the 25-year-old actor is around 5'8. The couple previously talked about the public's fixation over their height disparity at a Sirius XM Town Hall event promoting their latest blockbuster earlier this month. When host Jessica Shaw brought up the fact that fans have noticed Zendaya is taller, Holland replied, "Not that much taller. Let's put this out there. Maybe like an inch or two at best. It's not like, people say like, 'How did you guys kiss? It must have been so difficult'."
While it seemed that the host was also shedding too much light on an unnecessary observation, Shaw clarified, "What I'm saying is I'm always fascinated by—because it's such a misogynistic thing that like, 'Oh my God, the woman [is taller],' and it is so problematic." Holland added that the perception of problems stemming from their height difference was a “stupid assumption.” Zendaya also chimed in to say, "This is normal, too. My mom is taller than my dad. My mom's taller than everyone."
“Thank you for bringing that up,” Holland replied. After calling height stereotypes "ridiculous" Holland said, "I remember when we were doing the Spider-Man screen tests...but every girl that we tested for both roles was taller than me. I wonder whether that was a decision [director] Jon [Watts] had made. There was no one that tested that was shorter than I was." "To be fair, I am quite short," he continued. "So maybe that was a decision Jon Watts made and something he was aware of and wanted to break the stereotype. I think it's great."
Recently, when Tom Holland "liked" LADbible's Instagram post about sex and shorter men, it sent his fans into a tizzy. The post included a photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito from the 1988 classic Twins, with the caption stating that short men are more sexually active than tall men. According to LADBible, the post read: According to The Journal of Sexual Medicine, shorter men are more sexually active than taller men - who would have thought ay? A study of 531 heterosexual men found ‘coital frequency was higher among men with a height of less than 175cm’- which is just under 5’9… Can we get a (crown emoji) in the comments for our short kings?
A fan took a screenshot as proof that the Spider-Man star had liked the post, and it was then shared by the Instagram page CommentsByCelebs. More people came forward to show support to Holland's viewpoint. One fan wrote, "😂👏 yes Tom, our short king 👑," while another said, "Celebrities can’t even browse through Instagram in peace 😭 they always getting exposed." A third added, "i feel like tom forgets he‘s famous." The couple also appeared on The Graham Norton Show in early December where they spoke about how their height difference created some issues while filming stunts for the latest Spider-Man flick. The two were supposed to land together on a bridge, as part of the stunt with Zendaya's MJ in Spider-Man's arms before he places her down. But because she's taller, the actress' feet hit the ground first. Holland joked, "She would land, and then I would sort of land like this, and then my feet would swing from underneath me, and she would catch me. It's so nice to be caught for a change."
