We all love capturing sweet memories of the little ones in our lives, but sometimes they have a hilarious way of derailing our attempts to film those adorable moments. That’s exactly what happened to 33-year-old Mary Lentz, known as @maryjlentz on TikTok, when she was babysitting her 21-month-old niece. With the baby’s mom in labor, Lentz decided to film a sweet video message to send to her niece’s parents.

But Lentz's niece had other plans. Holding her niece in one arm and the camera in the other, Lentz encouraged her to say "good morning" to her mom. “Say good morning, Mama,” she prompted. But the little one shook her head and stayed silent. Lentz tried again, “No? What about Dada?” The toddler responded with a clear “Daddy!”—but when asked about her brother, the little girl began to cry. So much for the wholesome good morning video Lentz had planned!

But Lentz still decided to post the video on TikTok and the short footage went viral with over 2 million views. "I stayed the night and decided to send my brother and sister-in-law this video," Lentz explained to Newsweek. "My niece's personality is a blend of sass, sensitivity, energy and compassion. Reactions on social media have been mainly everyone finding it funny and making comments about how my niece has sass—she does." The TikTok comment section was flooded with people sharing stories of their own little ones' and reacting to Lentz's niece. Some remarked that she is not ready to be an older sister and is enjoying her single-child life, whereas others gushed at how she is her "daddy's little girl." ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ

@hannansfn commented, "My niece will cry out loud if her brother sleeping over as well. She doesn't want anybody to sleep at our house except her." @nataliehaggard shared, "My 2-year-old niece sent me a video for my daughter's birthday in which her mom said, 'Do you want to say happy birthday?' And she said 'no.'" @chrismom729 wrote, "My daughter with her auntie and I love it so much. Sometimes, she just will be like, 'Mommy, I want auntie' and I melt because my sister is the best sister and auntie. I get it, pumpkin." @baileyshaylynn joked, "She said no I’m not ready to go back I’m loving this only child life with auntie." @jojikay added, "My daughter always tells me I love you every night and her dad says what about me? Says no the exact same way." @kittykai666 chimed in, "That's my toddler, lol. She's in her 'no' phase."
