Parenting toddlers is no easy feat, and many parents would agree that it’s one of the most challenging stages of raising kids. Teaching them new behaviors can be chaotic, often requiring parents to come up with creative strategies. But toddlers aren’t just passive learners—they have their own tricks up their sleeves, too. Brooke Hobbs, known as @brooke_hobbs247 on TikTok, recently shared a video that has the internet in stitches. Her young son turned a simple household rule into a full-blown, sassy anthem.
The accuracy and attitude behind his impromptu performance have people mesmerized and laughing. The text overlay on Hobbs’ video read, “When your rebel toddler mocks you in song, but it’s an absolute banger.” The clip shows her son standing next to a keyboard with a microphone, fully immersed in his own mini concert. With pure confidence, he belts out his masterpiece: “Do what I say, do what I say, excuse me.” He repeats the catchy refrain multiple times, each with slight variations, turning his defiance into a surprisingly impressive tune. Hobbs couldn’t help but share the moment, proving that sometimes, toddlers are the real masterminds of household entertainment.
The boy was mocking his mom with the lyrics of the song which were presumably what she said to get him to listen. One can only imagine the situations where she may have been yelling, trying to get her toddler to listen with the same lines repeatedly and to think that he managed to turn it into a song was simply genius. The mom herself was baffled. In her caption, she wrote, “Boone’s debut hit- ‘Do what I say, do what I say, excuse me'.” With over a million views, people were just too awestruck with the adorable yet mischievousness the boy displayed in his creativity.
@montywolfe said, “This is high-level processing. This is how rebellious art is born. I’m seriously impressed.” @thisisthevizin said, “I had to scroll back to say this is stuck in my head. ‘Do what I say, do what I say, excuse me. (chipmunk giggles).” Fellow parents, on the other hand, knew just how it works with toddler kids. Many commented, sharing their experiences and opinions from what they have learned. @youloveeeb said, “Please have him record a song and play it in the car so you guys can listen to it because I won’t lie, this has got some ring to it.”
@the_inked_brunette39 remarked, “Oh, mama, I hope your coffee is always strong.” Many people even applauded the boy’s natural talent and ear for music. @frealgrll said, “His sense of rhythm is actually pretty advanced for his age. If he’s not in any music classes, he would take to them very naturally.” @ashlynnmarie exclaimed, “As a mom who makes a song out of anything, I fear this is my future.” @jessicaistrying hilariously suggested, “You need to sing this back to him all the time. It will become a great memory.”
