When a Tesco employee informed his workplace that he would be quitting, he was told he would have to submit a "formal resignation letter" in order to officially quit his job. Therefore, instead of just filing a boring old letter, he decided he would go "all out" with his resignation. The employee had someone read out a letter he wrote, while he stood on a podium all suited up (he even had a cane in hand to complete the look). The former grocery store employee then posted a video of the hilarious incident on Reddit.

"After telling my work that I am leaving, they said I must make a formal resignation letter," the employee, who goes by the username S1mps0n24 on Reddit, wrote. "So in response, I went all out." He uploaded a video of his formal resignation letter, which involved him standing on a white stool, a temporary podium. The employee also wore a formal black suit and held a wooden cane, to emphasize just how formal the entire situation was. Beside him stood a "town crier"—an individual who volunteered to read out his letter to an audience of shoppers and fellow grocery store workers.

The employee announced he would be handing in his formal resignation, following which the town crier began reading his letter. He read, "To whomsoever it may concern, I write this letter from a place of sorrow and regret. These six long, arduous years have caused me to grow quite weary. Whilst I have reveled and labored with my subordinates, my knees have grown weak, and the grease on my elbows has depleted. This is not for every man, to accept large packages into their back door. Nonetheless, it was my duty. I have wandered endless aisles, searching for sections incomplete."

He continued reading the letter, which included acknowledgments of the grocery store worker's closest colleagues. "To Chris, you are the father I never had," he read, to which the employee nodded his head in respect. "To John, you recognized my true potential, a finer manager I could not request. My final thanks goes to Steve, the emperor of this fine establishment. You have raised the bar for your predecessor infinitely. To say his name would be remembered is a gross overstatement." Finally, S1mps0n24 wanted to affirm that he was saying his final goodbye. His letter read, "I finish this letter with many thanks to my former comrades and I hereby submit my formal resignation."

As a closing remark, the employee shouted with a fist in the air, "Viva la Tesco!" Evidently, the internet loved the employee's ingenious resignation. A fellow Reddit user commented, "The little nods of approval, the rolling Rs on the synchronized 'resignation,' the stool, the cane, holding the letter at arm's length. So many elements combine to make this a true masterpiece of our times. Fine work gentlemen. Huzzah!" Another added, "Citizens of Tesco will speak of your exploits for generations to come. You are a scholar and a gentleman and I applaud your efforts."
