The woman and her family have managed to make it to the photo booth each year and behind the scenes of this little tradition is wholesome.
Many families have traditions that they created at some point and religiously followed for years after that. These traditions become an essential part of the memories the people share with each other and might also show how they've grown, changed and still managed to stay together over the years. Some of them even bring an undeniable sense of nostalgia with them. A family of four has a very specific kind of photo booth tradition that they have practiced for many years. The woman, Sydney Westra, who goes by @squidwestra on TikTok, took to the platform to share the cute tradition with the internet.
"Every year my dad (6'7), my brother (6'5), my mom (short) and I (6') shove ourselves inside a photo booth at the country fair," the text overlay of the video read as the brother and the dad tried to fit themselves inside a photo booth by sitting all scooched up in one spot. The mom entered and stood at one place to ensure that there was enough space for the daughter, who eventually entered and tried not to cover her brother's face with her head because of the less space inside the booth. Once everyone was settled, they made funny faces and struck weird poses to get their photos clicked.
"This is us over the years," Westra wrote as she shared the photos the family had clicked over the years from the time the woman and her brother were perhaps teenagers to up until now. The family had a bunch of goofy photos where one or more people were sticking their tongues out. The dad even pretended to poke his own nose for one of the pictures. Most of them were black and white, while two of them were in color in between before the black and white pictures continued. In some of the pictures, the brother and sister stood in the front, while in others, the mom and the sister did. At one point, Westra started keeping bangs and as per the photos, she never went back to her old hairstyle.
The last two pictures taken in 2023 and 2024 at the Orange Country Fair were in color and had a little something written on them. They said "Happy together" and "Always a good time," respectively. The caption to the video read, "Missing a few, but wow, there were tears in my eyes while making this!" The video received more than 2.4 million views and over 419k likes. People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the beautiful tradition the family practices.
@alexfdamour wrote, "I just had my 2nd daughter and this truly made me bawl thinking of them being adult children one day. Hope we have this kind of relationship." @kaitlean2001 commented, "My husband and I did this each anniversary and on one anniversary, he proposed in the booth. Can’t wait to do this with our kids one day." @cfpaje819 remarked, "Aw, this is adorable! My mommy and daddy issues are screaming; I’m currently bawling like a baby at this." @hey.ams shared, "THE BEST THING I'VE SEEN TODAY! My little family loves photo booths. Gonna make it as a fam tradition." @cj.maree expressed, "I can literally feel the safety and love your family gives off through the screen."
