Seeing the mother watching her son's energy in their lively jive dance performance left many on the internet jaw-dropped.
Just like music, dance is also a universal language, an expression of joy that takes different forms in different cultures. Particularly, the art of jive dancing is an amusing blend of energetic kicks, graceful spins and alluring moves. Often paired with music of upbeat tempo, jive dancing is a playful rendition and an absolute delight to watch. Jive dancing typically involves two dancers and in a recent video that has been going viral, an unusual duo takes on the living room floor with their vivacious moves. Yes, Thomas Hayes—who goes by @tomhayes1234 on TikTok—decided to make his mother his dance partner and their pairing couldn't have been better.
As the video begins, Hayes and his mom can be seen holding each other's hands and facing each other. One might wonder if the mom could truly match the energy of her 20-year-old son, but she aced it. As Olivia Dean's rendition of "You Can't Hurry Love" by The Supremes played in the background, the mom and son embark on a dynamic dance routine. There wasn't even a second of lag in the mom's steps as she effortlessly kept up with her son. "When your mum has better dance moves than you," the text overlay read. Evidently, the mom appears to be a good dancer herself and she and Hayes gave a perfectly synchronized performance.
It turns out that Hayes had been honing his dance skills since he was 10 and his mom since 8. She even worked as an assistant teacher in Hayes' dance school. Be it the spirited kicks, fast-paced spins and jumps, the mom nailed it to perfection. She and Hayes practiced this dance for fun in their living room and the result turned out so amazing. No wonder her legacy has been passed on to her son. "A lot of the family do dance however, not everyone. My brother doesn't dance at all and is the complete opposite of me. [He] isn't interested in it," Hayes told Newsweek. He even took a jibe at his brother in the caption by saying, "That is why my brother moved out."
The video garnered over 6.5 million views in just a couple of weeks and people adored the duo's dance. "Oh, I love it when kids inherit a passion and talent from their parents. Moments like this are so precious- thank you for sharing, you’re both incredible," said @markspark1111. "If I ever have a son, I hope I have this kind of a relationship with him. I'm gonna have to learn how to jive, though," gagged @countingmommyxp. "Just imagine their mother and son dance at his wedding," chimed in @dorothyannlin. Many others suggested that the pair sing up for the popular British reality show, "Strictly Come Dancing."

While speaking of a parent-child dance routine, one cannot miss out on this father-daughter dance performance in the kitchen. Ali Hoffman–who goes by @amjhoffman on Instagram–decided to tackle the melancholic times of COVID-19 by dancing with her father. As Jess Glynne's hit number, "Hold My Hand," begins playing, the daughter starts mimicking the piano riff and her father joins her with his cool moves as the lyrics start. Their infectious energy made Hoffman's mom tag along and it became one wholesome family time.
