A video of a 6-year-old girl leaving her football mates in the wake is going viral on the internet. Alessia Ashley from Westchester County, New York, might be only six but she's the standout player on her flag football team. And she's the only girl on the team. Alessia's mother, Marianna Ashley, recorded the video of one of her daughter's recent games and posted it on TikTok, reported Good Morning America. Alessia is head and shoulders above the rest of the team. The video has since garnered thousands of likes and has been shared widely. "Baby girl does it again," wrote her mom, making evident that Alessia's performance from the video wasn't a one-off but rather a theme.

Marianna Ashley knew Alessia was athletic but she took to football out of the blue and she really didn't care if it meant playing with the boys. "One day she just asked me, 'Can I play football?' and I said, 'Are you sure? With the boys?'" said Ashley. "She didn't even care if she was the only girl. She just was happy to join the team." Alessia's team plays in the Sports Center Consulting league which allows kids of all genders to play together. For Alessia, the team she signed up for had only one spot available and the rest were all boys. One look at the video tells you that the boys were lucky to have her on their side.

"She's always been athletic, and she's always been into sports and soccer. She's always playing with balls. Like, just anything athletic," said the six-year-old's mother. Ashley added that her daughter had only started playing football earlier this year but you wouldn't be able to tell if you watched her play. According to Ashley,  Alessia was quite timid at first because she didn't know anyone on the team and found it hard to really express herself or give her all. Ashley added that it took a while for Alessia to really settle down with the group but once she did, there was no stopping her.

"She's very shy when she doesn't know anyone. She didn't know these kids so she was a little hesitant when she would get the ball," said Ashley. "She wouldn't put her all into it and go for the touchdown." As she played more, she started to fully embrace the sport. Ashley added that there's an air of anticipation every time her daughter gets the ball. "We were all blown away," said Ashley of her daughter's talent. "The entire team just goes crazy when she gets the ball. They know something crazy is about to happen."

Alessia comes from a family with strong roots in sports. Ashley said she's not really into sports but added that her daughter's inspiration is her older brother Bobby, who's 11 and has a keen interest in football and soccer. Alessia's team has done incredibly well so far and will head to the playoffs, should they win their final game. The six-year-old's family is aware they have a rough diamond on their hands and plan to get a trainer to hone her skills over the summer, apart from trying her hand at a few other sports.
