The establishment has found a unique way to deal with difficult customers and people on the internet wondered what pushed them to do the same.
Most establishments have to deal with difficult patrons more often than not. Although many people just reiterate the rules and let the misdemeanor slide, a theatre has come up with the most ingenious way to deal with annoying things their audience does. They established special pricing for each annoying habit depending upon how bothersome the same can be for the theatre, the artists and other people in the audience. The movie theatre's pricing was shared on Reddit by u/Ryno3639.
The local independent movie theatre had two sets of pricing. One was the normal admission prices for adults, senior citizens and students. The second set of prices were mostly additional costs that people would incur if they were being bothersome to the theatre. The admission prices for adults ranged from $10 from Monday to Thursday and $10.5 from Friday to Sunday. For people in active military service, the price was $8.75. For senior citizens, "60 or better," the price went down to 8 dollars. The afternoon performances or the performances before 6 pm were 8 dollars and for students, the ticket price was $8.75. However, the special thing was the extra charges the theatre had put out for people.
The establishment would charge a person $51.76 if they "leave their damn cell phone on." The place would charge a person $20 "If you tell us you are a 'student of life.'" The place would also charge $15 for people who feel the need to tell them that popcorn and movies used to be very cheap some time ago. "Prices are subject to change whenever we damn feel like it," the notice concluded. "Pricing for private events may vary. Thank you." People took to the comments section of the thread to appreciate the bold message and wonder what might have pushed the people to put out such a message.
u/hacklinuxwithbeer joked, "Ticket agent: 'Sir, I see your mobile phone is on, that'll now be $51.76 for your ticket.' Me: 'Damn, movies sure used to be a lot cheaper.' Ticket agent: 'Sir, for saying that your ticket is now only $15.00.'" u/eifos commented, "In Australia, the big cinemas charge between 20-25 for an adult but almost everyone I know gets deals through their phone providers. For example, I get $12 tickets (except after 5 pm on a Saturday or something) to the biggest cinema chain just cos of my provider. You can usually find Tuesday deals around the place, especially at smaller cinemas, but definitely 20-25 for big chains as a default."
u/clagil remarked, "Yeah. There's standing up for yourself and then just being aggressive right out the door and creating an unwelcoming atmosphere. I wouldn't go here." u/SidneyCarton69 shared, "I can walk to a local theater and try to see 3-4 movies a month there for a couple of reasons. 1. They partake in our city's film festival. 2. I love having a theater so close to home and want to keep it here. I also purchase popcorn and soda every time I go because I also know it's where they actually make money and I am not opposed to that."
