Jamie Lee Curtis came, fulfilled her duty and left the 2024 Academy Awards midway due to reasons that most of us can definitely relate to.
The 2024 Oscars had us all buzzing with excitement, but one moment stole the spotlight for its sheer relatability. Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis attended the magnificent award show on March 10 to present the trophy for 'Best Supporting Actress' to Da'Vine Joy Randolph (for "The Holdovers"). But in a move that left the attendees and her fans scratching their heads, she left the event midway. Curtis took to Instagram to spill the beans: she ditched the glitz and glamour for a nice burger and the cozy confines of her home sweet home. Who can blame her? Jamie, you're all of us!

The post has got 37.9K likes on the social media platform. In the caption, the actress reveals her to-do list for her trip to Los Angeles for the awards show, which included getting a burger. The final picture in the post shows a delicious meal comprising a burger, fries and a coke in her car. People found her decision very relatable and shared their thoughts in the comments section. @trishasony commented, "I like your priorities!" @amandagracemcc said, "Yes queen! Bet you were happy they started an hour earlier this year too!" @marigoldsky22 said, "Really just presented and dipped. I respect it." Curtis also made a significant fashion statement on the red carpet with her stunning long-sleeved black gown from the shelves of Dolce & Gabbana.

Curtis provided an elaborate explanation of her costume in a post on Instagram. She wrote, "I am wearing a gold cuff with a diamond-encrusted replica of the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The statue was worshiped in a temple built for her." Curtis shared how the designer of the cuff, Cathy Waterman, saw the figure at the Louvre when she was just a teenager. It prompted her to study history more deeply and Curtis stated that she was glad to wear her on her wrist to the Oscars ceremony.
It was only last year that Curtis won the 'Best Supporting Actress' award for her role in the movie, "Everything Everywhere All at Once." The movie had a total of seven nominations altogether. The actress spoke to Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on the TODAY show, revealing how she would use her trophy as a tribute to one of her kids. When Guthrie asked Curtis what she would name the award, the actress replied, "In support of my daughter Ruby, I'm having them be a 'they/them.' I'm gonna just call them 'them.' 'They/them'."

Curtis was emotionally overwhelmed as she added, "And they are doing great and they're settling in. In my life, I never thought in a million years, that I would have these couple of days. And I'm very, very moved by the whole thing." Ruby came out as trans to parents Curtis and Christopher Guest in 2020. Ruby then went on to marry their partner Kynthia two years later, in May of 2022.

According to PEOPLE, Ruby was very scared about telling their parents their true identity: "It was scary—just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn't know. It was intimidating—but I wasn't worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life." It was a very emotional moment for the family, as Curtis revealed, "I called her immediately. Needless to say, there were some tears involved." She officiated her daughter's wedding not long after that.
