The summer has been unforgiving lately as the temperature continues to soar higher and higher. Humans and animals both try to seek some solace by staying indoors and consuming water to cool down. But there are some heartless folks out there who don't think twice before throwing out puppies to struggle under the scorching heat. One such incident took place in Texas lately. According to The Independent, the Texas police rescued 8 puppies who were abandoned in a carrier under the blistering heat wave.

The 8 pups were found in the Fort Worth area of Texas where the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office reached the scene and found the puppies suffering under the heat which soared up to 37 degrees Celsius. The police responded after a stranger called them, discovering the abandoned puppies in the first place. The sheriff's office revealed that the pups were barely six weeks old and were likely a shepherd mix. After the rescue, each pup got a name. Cheetos, Fritos, Ruffles, Lays Potato, Cheese Itz, Doritos, Bingo and Pringles were all named after popular snacks.

The sheriff's office transported the pups to the Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center. The pictures of the pups were uploaded online by the sheriff's office and they were glad to announce that each one of them found a forever home within a few hours. One of the deputies, Collin Stephenson, who responded to the rescue call, adopted one of the pups as well. It's highly unlikely that the Texas police will be able to nab the person who abandoned the puppies in terrible conditions since there were no surveillance cameras nearby. When the puppies were discarded at a roadside, Texas was experiencing one of the hottest days of the month and many people suffered from heat waves, per National Weather Service data.

Just like there are irresponsible and selfish people who do not care about innocent animals, there are kind individuals who put those animals above their own priorities. In 2019, 43-year-old Khemjira Klongsanun participated in a marathon that took place in Thailand. While running towards her final mark, she spotted an injured puppy lying on the side of the road. “It seemed to me that this little guy was lost. There were no houses, no other dogs, or no people around," she told The Daily Mail at that time. But her fellow runners just ran past the fearful little Thai Bangkaew breed dog. Khemjira, on the other hand, stopped, lifted the puppy and then carried the cute animal along with her to the finish line that was still 19 miles ahead.

She put in her best efforts after the marathon to try and locate the dog's owner but when she couldn't find them, she decided to keep the pup, name her Chombueng and started taking her to the vet. "It took a lot of time to take the new dog for checkups, vaccinations, and treatments but I'm glad to save him and willing to have him with other dog members in the family," she told Good News Network. “Chombeung is about 8 months now and weighed in at 18 kilograms during her last veterinarian visit. She’s lived with us for six months now, and though I can’t be sure, I think she was about 2 months old when I found her,” Khemjira told Coconuts Bangkok in July 2019.
