Wells Fargo denied a woman a Terry Crews debit card — then he called

In 2017, Darrel Kennedy (@darreldotcoma), a woman, went viral on X after she announced her intention to order a new debit card with Terry Crews' face on it. It was no ordinary picture of the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" actor; it, in fact, was a hilarious snap of Julius, the frugal father he played in the 2005 sitcom, "Everybody Hates Chris." Kennedy was obsessed with the picture because she believed it would help her spend less money. However, when Wells Fargo rejected her request for the customized debit card, Kennedy turned to social media for help — and guess what? It worked. Yes, her post went viral, and when the actor saw her innocent demand, he couldn't stop himself from helping her out of the situation.

On Nov 3, she returned to X to post an update about her card. Kennedy informed her audience that her request had been rejected because they had to have a written approval from Crews. "Can y'all RT or tag him so a girl can save some money?" she asked. In no time, her post went viral and even reached the "White Chicks" actor. Impressed, he immediately gave her approval. Crews wrote, "I approve. Signed, Terry Crews," allowing Kennedy to finally have her dream credit card. Finally, showing her gratitude to her social media audience, she posted her final update on the debit card: They’ve expedited the case and are sending it to @WellsFargo HQ to get it approved. [I] should have it in my hands in the next two weeks." And when the actor heard about the woman's victory, he couldn't stop himself from congratulating her.

Meanwhile, people were also left in awe reading the wholesome interaction between Kennedy and Crews. For instance, @verymimi commented, "I am screaming; I really can't believe this chain of events." Likewise, @awkwardsouthern shared, "Girl, they rejected mine. They didn't have the college team I wanted, so I stuck a huddle pic, and they rejected it." @alonzolerone pointed out, "The power of Twitter! Congrats."

While Wells Fargo had initially declined  Kennedy's request for a customized debit card with Crews' face on it, a 2022 report says it's one of the popular banks in the USA that lets customers personalize their cards. The bank doesn't restrict its customers to only existing designs; it, in fact, lets them personally choose what they want on their cards. All they have to do is submit a picture of maybe their dog, cat, or anything they want on their cards. Sarah DuBois, Wells Fargo's spokeswoman, said customizing cards is a very popular trend among customers. Since 2009, more than 8 million cardholders have customized the look of their cards using the Card Design Studio service, she said. What's more interesting is that Wells Fargo also offers a library of images from which the customers can choose to personalize their card. Other banks like American Express and Discover also offer similar fancy card customization plans to their customers.
