A teen struggled with worry after visiting her sick mom in the hospital, but a heartfelt surprise on her car changed everything.
Sometimes, the way strangers show kindness is no less than a heavenly act, especially during hard times. A teenager noticed a surprising change on her car parked outside a hospital in Temecula, California. The high school student, Alyvia Russell, aka Lyvvy—who goes by @lyvs_spamm on TikTok—was stepping outside the healthcare facility following a visit to her mom, Athena. The teen girl reportedly didn’t have a good day and felt helpless seeing her mother struggle with her health. An emotional video showed Alyvia unknowingly walking into the stranger’s sweet gesture as part of a social media trend where people go out of their way to support patients and their families.
Days before the heartwarming moment, as per PEOPLE magazine, Alyvia’s mom was admitted to the hospital due to trouble breathing, and her feet began swelling up. “What was most challenging was seeing my mom cry because she was scared. Not being able to cure her magically was making me upset too because I was sitting in her room trying to entertain her, but I could tell she was in pain,” the outlet quoted the teen girl as saying. Unlike any other day when the high schooler from Pala would drive straight home after visiting her mother, this time, she noticed a flower and a note on the door handle of her car. Alyvia was initially taken aback by the surprise; however, after checking it carefully, she found it contained an encouraging message for her.
“You are perfect,” the teenager read from the note while recording the rare sight and sharing the heartfelt moment on Snapchat with her boyfriend. “My initial reaction was making sure this wasn’t some kind of trafficking tactic, but I felt a little assured when I saw that there was a flower and note on every single car in the parking lot,” Alyvia added. “My mom has been in the hospital since Wednesday. She had complications with her heart and lungs. I walked out to my car and saw that someone had done that trend where you place flowers on cars at the hospital,” read the text overlay on the footage capturing her shocked reaction.
The stranger’s act of kindness “made her night.” “Thank you to whoever did this in Temecula,” she wrote in the description. While speaking to the outlet, Alyvia explained how it was a tear-jerking moment for her following a rough day. “After I realized that, I started to tear up a little bit because I didn’t hear good news that day. So, coming out and seeing people had left that on my car was the best part of my day,” she said. Notably, her mom's health—already complicated due to procedures like heart ablation—seemed worse than usual, prompting the family to take her to urgent care.
As Alviya’s mom received treatment, the teenager’s briefly comforting footage drew widespread reactions on social media, with many wishing the caregiver a speedy recovery. “Awww, this is so cute. Praying for your mom,” @jarredshotgf remarked. “Omg, I saw the video of the girls putting flowers on the cars. Thank God I got this video! I hope everything goes well—praying for you and your momma,” @user137h.2285.3 added. “Me and a friend of mine just did this in our hometown, I hope everyone felt this way,” @soph_nicholeee echoed similar sentiments.
