Words of kindness, especially from an unexpected place can probably do a lot to lift a person's spirit. A woman received some, from her doorbell cam when a few teenagers were playing "ding dong ditch." A boy decided to leave a beautiful message instead of playing the game. His warm message has touched people's hearts and given them hope for good in the world. The video caught by the camera was posted by Ashley Mann, who goes by @ashleyfayeann on TikTok.
As the video began, a group of friends was walking around the neighborhood pressing people's doorbells and running away. As the kid called Jacksen came up to a door instead of pressing the doorbell he decided to leave a message for the doorbell camera. “If you can see me, then you matter, alright? There’s always gonna be somebody that cares about you and you’re a good person no matter what people say, you matter," the boy expressed. One of the boys came up and pressed the doorbell even though Jacksen tried to stop him.
The boy was about to turn away and go himself but he came back and continued his message.“Ignore them, they’re losers. They’re ‘ding-dong ditching’ you, I’m just trying to say something nice. Like I don’t know what they’re doing, they’re running away and stuff. I’m just trying to say that you matter man or girl, whoever you are you matter to someone. Just keep that in mind, don’t forget that," the teenager said and walked away.
The video received over 5 million views and over 865k likes. The creator captioned the video, "Random acts of kindness." The kid told CBS Minnesota, “I just saw the doorbell camera when we were walking to the gas station and I just thought maybe I should say something nice to it. Because my friends were ‘ding-dong ditching’ those cameras, and I was like, you know what? How about I go say something nice? Maybe they need to hear it.”
On the other hand, Ashley Mann was on vacation when the incident happened and she got a notification on her phone. She watched the footage and saw the boy on it. She thought, "Wow, that was very powerful." Mann is a mental health guide and believes that the kid's message can make a huge impact on anyone who listens to it. So she decided to upload the video for anyone who needs to hear it. The boy's mother Carissa was truly proud of her son's kindness. "My heart just expanded. I am so proud of you," she told her son. However, she is not surprised as her son told her that he would stand up for kids who are singled out.
The boy's family and Ashley decided to start a GoFundMe for mental health awareness. "Jacksen’s family and I decided to do something with this and create this fundraiser to hopefully raise some money to donate to a local Mental Health resource in our community. Anything is welcome and if you don’t want to donate please make sure to spread positivity anywhere you go. Take care," Ashley wrote on the page. Meanwhile, people took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the kid's positive message. @gleeeful111 remarked, "Bro just walked away like he is the main character." @tik_toks_mailman wrote, "He could have saved someone's life that day." @fresh_bird_milk commented, "Kid is straight outta some 90’s heartfelt movie."
