He had started going out with his girlfriend during the sophomore year of high school after homecoming.
Finding love in high school might be a rare thing, but knowing as a child that you are going to marry a certain person for sure is quite unusual. This is exactly what happened with Savannah and Brodie, a couple who started dating when they were in high school back in 2016 and got married 8 years later in April 2024. However, the wife Savannah found an interesting video of her husband when they were going to get married and shared it on TikTok. The woman, Savannah Richards goes by @vannah146 on the platform.
In the 2016 video, a 15-year-old Brodie can be heard saying, "I am going to marry Savannah. I bet 10 bucks." He proceeded to shake hands with the friend he made a bet with. Evidently, he won it because his wedding video with his wife, shot in 2024 proceeded to play next. As the video played out, the priest read the wedding vows in the background. Even during his vows, Brodie mentioned how he knew this was going to happen for years and has a video to prove it. "We originally met in high school. We were in the same weight training class. I cheered and he played football for our small-town high school team," Savannah told PEOPLE.
She added, "He was the type of guy who wouldn't let anybody else spot me whenever we would be lifting weights. He was very obvious that he was interested." The woman recounted, "He was sitting at one of my practices one day. You can hear in that video that there's cheering going on in the background. He was sitting at one of the tables in the same area and doing homework with a friend. They were talking about how much he was enjoying getting to know me. He's like, 'I'm gonna marry her,' and bet $10." Brodie had proposed to her by throwing a football for her to catch that read, "You just caught a date to homecoming."
Although she was apprehensive at first because she was a junior and he was a sophomore but it changed after homecoming. "His friend was like, 'You guys are like 15 years old. You're not gonna get married. That doesn't happen.' But it did. We really are just best friends. We fit together from the moment we met. It was so much of a strong friendship that it came so easy to love him. He's a great guy. If you know Brodie, you love him," Savannah expressed. Savannah also discovered the video in a very interesting way. "I was posting something on social media that included a picture with Brodie and I was showing him off like I always have. His friend who recorded that video was like, 'You guys, I can't wait for you to get married and get to that place in life and be together.'"
"Then she was like, 'Did you know I actually have this video of him saying he was going to marry you?'" she recounted. The woman kept the video with her, waiting for the right moment to post it and she found the perfect opportunity at her wedding. People took to the comments section to congratulate the couple. @brittanistewart10 wrote, "Someone owes him $10. Beautiful! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness." @feliciathomas27 commented, "I thought she was gonna give him $10 at the altar." @vinniesmaverickdaughter remarked, "That’s the stuff dreams are made of."
