'If you are a parent of especially an elementary child, and you are dropping them off at school, and you have an AirTag on them or their backpack…'

A kindergartener standing alone at a deserted bus stop after being dropped off at the wrong location is any parent's worst nightmare. That's why new-generation parents use tracking devices such as AirTags to keep track of their children at all times. However, recently, a school administrator posted a now-deleted TikTok, according to Mom.com, urging parents to stop "excessively" tagging their children's belongings with AirTags, sparking a massive debate on the internet.
In the clip, which has now been taken down, the teacher asks parents to "please stop tracking your children with AirTags." She then goes ahead and acknowledges that she "might get a lot of hate" for what she was saying, but that didn't stop her from continuing on with her reasoning. "If you are a parent of especially an elementary child, and you are dropping them off at school, and you have an AirTag on them or their backpack… please don’t," she said. The teacher also mentioned that schools don't lose children, and if they did, then parents would instantly be informed. This last comment sent the internet for a spin, as they tried to find the logic behind her suggestion, exasperated by her tone.

Well, tracking has somewhat become a norm in recent times as technology grows, with parents using GPS trackers for their kids' safety more than ever before. According to All About Cookies, nearly 865 of parents across the country check their child's location, including 71% who do so quite frequently. Interestingly, a few, close to about 10%, do it without letting their child know. But it isn't for nothing; tracking has proven to be quite effective, with more than 2 in 5 parents catching their children doing something they were not supposed to because of tracking.

This alone should be enough reason for schools to let parents track their children. However, to further prove the parents' point, for parents of kids with autism and other specially abled kids, tracking can be a lifesaver and help parents be worry-free while they are at work. This is even more true as crimes against children have been increasing over time. That, along with several other reasons, is making people furious at this teacher. "How on earth does it affect her? I really want to know why she would care?" Nowel wrote.

"'If we lose them, we'll tell you' yeah... exactly — but how is that going to help find them???" PlatiCat commented, questioning the teacher's logic. Well, it seems like these comments have worked in the parents' favor, with Bodycam USA providing an update on the administrator's account, which has seemingly been deleted following her posting this controversial clip. "Update: I contacted her Superintendent and Board. They responded to me this morning (4/2) confirming it has been addressed. Her account is now gone."
