The inspiring ad introduces everyone to Switzerland's national team of female soccer players in the most iconic way possible.

The 2023 FIFA Women's world cup is right around the corner as the first match will kickstart on July 20, 2023, and the event will conclude on August 20, 2023. Soccer enthusiasts are looking forward to this sporting event, hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Like every nation doing its best to introduce and promote its soccer teams to the world, Switzerland has come up with an ad that can be deemed unique and iconic. The YouTube page of Schweizerischer Fussballverband (Swiss Football Association) shared a promotional video that featured an amazing introduction to the players of the Swiss team.

The ad, which has been circulated on several social media platforms, shows a family of four chatting while having a meal at the dining table. The young girl in the family asks her father if they would be watching the soccer world cup together this summer. The father indifferently answers that the world cup was last year, referring to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. 

His daughter quickly corrects him that another world cup is happening this year in New Zealand, reminding him of the women's soccer world cup. The father appears to dismiss the idea of watching the world cup by asking the girl and her brother if anyone knows about the team at all. The kids instantly prove him wrong by naming each and every member of the Swiss women's soccer team and listing their accomplishments.

 

It stuns the parents as they seem genuinely surprised and impressed by how much their kids know about the team. A text overlay at the end of the video reads: "Our squad for the 2023 world cup," followed by the names of all players. The video has received a lot of praise from the netizens as it was shared on several social media platforms and some even deemed it "iconic." According to The Guardian, Switzerland's women's soccer team is coached by Inka Grings, who has had a successful career as a player scoring 64 goals in 96 games for Germany, winning the Euros in 2005 and 2009.

Some of the star players of the team include Ramona Bachmann, Alisha Lehmann and the team's captain, Lia Wälti. Despite an ankle injury in May, Wälti is expected to be captain for the opening game against the Philippines. Seraina Piubel has been considered a rising star in the team. She made quite an impression this season, with her goals in FC Zürich while successfully defending their league title. Piubel currently plays as a midfielder. The player was born into a footballing family with her mother, Sandra Piubel, winning one cup for Switzerland and her father, Urs Meier, securing several Swiss league titles with Grasshoppers.

Fabienne Humm is another squad member to look out for, as she made history with the fastest World Cup hat trick in 2015. "We take it step by step," Bachmann said. But they have no intention to pack up and leave until the final on August 20 and they are possibly aiming for the quarter-finals at least. The current squad consists of more experienced players such as goalkeeper Gaelle Thalmann, defenders like Noelle Maritz, Viola Calligaris and Luana Buhler, midfielders Geraldine Reuteler, Coumba Sow, Ana Maria Crnogorcevic and Riola Xhemaili to name a few, reported Goal. It's high time people start paying more attention to women's soccer matches as well.
