Naomi Campbell, who is a "mum of two" now, is defying all societal expectations around motherhood. The supermodel welcomed a baby boy at the age of 53. She became a mother for the first time at the age of 50 in 2021 with the birth of her daughter. On June 29, the supermodel shared an adorable snap of her holding her baby boy in her arms as her two-year-old daughter reaches over.

"My little darling, know that you are cherished beyond measure and surrounded by love from the moment you graced us with your presence. A true gift from God, blessed! Welcome Baby boy. #mumoftwo," she wrote. "It’s never too late to become a mother." Many celebrities, including actress Zoe Saldaña, fellow model Claudia Schiffer and former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland congratulated Campbell on her new addition to the family.

In one of the previous interviews, Campbell revealed that she welcomed her first child back in May 2021. “A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother,” she wrote in an Instagram post at the time, reported PEOPLE. The post is not available on the model's Instagram timeline now. “So honored to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you, my angel," she captioned a photo of herself holding the newborn’s feet, adding, “There is no greater love.”

A source previously told Page Six that Campbell wanted to be a mother for a “long time.” “She is the godmother to many friends and family’s kids and has always looked forward to the day of starting her own family," the source was quoted as saying. Back in May 2017, Campbell told Evening Standard magazine that she always wanted to be a mom but never felt the need to rush the process. "I think about having children all the time," she said. "But now, with the way science is, I think I can do it when I want," shared the model. She added that she didn't want to be a single parent at the time and wanted "a father figure. I think it’s important."

With her second child, Campbell wants people to know that it's never too late to have kids. As she appeared on the cover of British Vogue's March 2022 issue alongside her then nine-month-old daughter, she got candid about her motherhood journey. "I always knew that one day I would be a mother, but it's the biggest joy I could ever imagine. I'm lucky to have her and I know that," she said. The icon added that she developed a new "completely selfless" attitude with motherhood and asserted that she has no issue with the 50-year age gap between her and her daughter. She wants her older friends to have babies as well. "I'm telling them all, do it! Don't hesitate!" she added.

Campbell has yet to reveal the names of her children. Last year, she called her firstborn a “dream child” and that she’s incredibly lucky to have her. Speaking to BBC Hardtalk about her then 4-month-old daughter, she gushed, “She’s wonderful. She’s very independent already, very smart, alert, sleeps 12 hours. She’s a good girl.”
