She said, 'My students found my Strava. Not my Instagram, not my Facebook, my Strava.'

Students love stalking their teachers on social media, and no matter how hard teachers try to keep their handles a secret, kids find a way to trace them. However, middle school teacher @runningthelife_'s kids took a step further; they stalked her on the Strava app. Not Instagram, not Facebook, but the kids found out the young teacher's account on the fitness tracking app and decided to leave hilarious comments under her account, which has left online users in splits. Sharing the story, the middle school teacher read some of the messages she received with her Instagram followers on November 21.

@runningthelife_ shared that her school kids found her Strava account, and the "motivational" messages they left have found her doubling over in laughter. She said, "My students found my Strava. Not my Instagram, not my Facebook, my Strava," as she proceeded to read some of the comments left by her students. "Yo miss, you got heck aura," one wrote. The teacher stopped to say, "Heck — nice save there." Another one of the student's comments read, "I see you," to which the teacher quipped, "Where?" "You stay cooking on these runs," another comment read. The teacher, after reading the comments, was confused about whether to block her students, as she said, "I mean, is this a problem? Do I block them? I don't know." @runningthelife_ has often documented her fitness journey and has often posted updates about her frequent runs.

A 2025 study by Frontiers studied how quality teacher-student relationships influence academic outcomes. The study notes that when teachers provide a "safe haven," students show better academic engagement and higher achievement. By not reacting negatively to her students' comments, the teacher set a great example for taking things in a light-hearted gesture. "The main findings emphasize the significance of fostering positive and secure TSRs [teacher-student relationships] to enhance student engagement and achievement," researchers wrote. "Educational norms in collectivistic countries like China, where teacher-student roles are hierarchical more defined (Jin and Cortazzi, 2006), contrast with individualistic countries like the USA and Canada, where students play a more active role in learning (Staub and Stern, 2002)." Researchers encourage teachers to collaborate on student issues rather than face them head-on, alone, finding that "joint responsibility" brought students much closer to their goals.

Soon after the post gained huge attention on Instagram, many online users couldn't help but react to the hilarious video. @jessicaeduvall wrote, "Awww. No dont block them! They are genuinely being supportive and are impressed by your runs! You're probably inspiring to them." @ca.runner commented, "definitely better the strava than the Instagram!!" @kirstenwestafer wrote, "Sounds like those kids might be getting some inspiration and motivation!"
