Students asked janitor to enter the classroom with her eyes closed — and then gave her a 'sweet' surprise

Humans often tend to focus on groundbreaking and monumental moments. However, the smaller gestures usually create an impact in unimaginable ways. These small gestures possess a special power that can truly shape the world. A simple yet gentle word of encouragement or small actions can warm hearts. In one such heartwarming moment uploaded on Reddit by u/Consistent-Ad395, a teacher could be seen leading a cleaner to a chair and asking her to close her eyes. Soon, the students began walking over to place chocolates in her hands.

In the video, the teacher was seen asking the cleaner to close her eyes as he took the mop from her hand and made her sit on a chair. He then asked her to spread her hands in front of her. The students then stepped up to place chocolates in her hands one by one. In the end, when the cleaner opened her eyes, she had a priceless reaction to the surprise. She picked up the gifts and expressed her gratitude as the teacher helped her walk out of the classroom. 

The video was originally uploaded by the Turkish media platform Aykırı (@aykiricomtr) on X. The caption of the video reads, "A teacher in Kazakhstan surprised a cleaning lady with his students, whom he called to the classroom under the pretext of cleaning, and these images emerged." The video has garnered over 3 million views on the platform. However, people on Reddit left mixed comments about the gesture toward the cleaner. A user said, "I don't know why others are expecting people to help with money when they don't have the obligation to. Not everything has to be about money, paying bills, etc. Sometimes, it can be a kind gesture to hard-working or older individual people!"

"Such a sweet surprise," wrote u/SpecificSetOfSkills1. "This is sweet and all, but considering her age, I think that much chocolate wouldn't be good for her. Flowers would have been better in my opinion, but the gesture is still thoughtful and appreciated," added u/mitzyrainn. "As an educator, I’ll bet 100% she gives small candies and treats to the kids. who is cutting onions?" pointed out u/STEVE_FROM_EVE. u/bannedonmostsubs shared their perspective as a Kazakhstan citizen, "This video is heart warming. These kids and their teacher respect and show love for this woman. Simple chocolates from school kids isn’t negligible. These are also name brand store bought chocolates. Not the cheap and chalky local stuff. This woman feels loved and equal. They don’t have $100 bills to pay her. This is love outside of the first world."

Many expressed their discontent with the gesture as well. "They stopped her from working so they can give her diabetes? I was holding out hope that they would give her money at the end of it, but that was a waste of time. Poor woman, that's so embarrassing," wrote u/prettiepeonies. "Congrats, you guys spent a total of 20 bucks for someone who slaves away for you. This is lame as hell," shared u/mintidubs.
