A teacher has the most funny and heartwarming conversation with his students after telling them that he is moving away.
Teachers and students tend to develop strong relationships as time goes by. However, nothing lasts for a lifetime and when the time for separation comes, it is mostly bittersweet. Colin Cox—who goes by @colinco_ on TikTok—recently informed his students that he is moving away and leaving his current position. The beautiful interaction has gained 2.7 million views and 500.5K likes on the social media platform. As the video starts, we can see Cox sitting at his desk as he begins to address his class.
He says, "Hey. So, as I'm sure you've heard, I'm leaving." There are sounds of concern and unhappiness amongst his students as they hear this. Cox empathizes with his students and reveals that he is moving to Mexico, which he describes to be "crazy." The teacher shares that he is going there to teach at another elementary school and then proceeds to ask if any of them have questions. The class begins to ask him a series of hilariously absurd questions, including what his flower is and what his salary is.
Cox clarifies, "Okay, questions pertaining to Mexico." One of his students asks him what he is going to teach in Mexico. He shares, "I'm going to be teaching English." Just as he finishes saying this, one of his students inquires if he knows how to speak Spanish. Cox openly admits that he is not very good at Spanish, and one of his students adorably suggests that they teach him. They also ask him how long the flight will take to get to Mexico.
The teacher mentions that it is approximately four hours. His students begin to get more creative with their questions, with one kid asking, "Will you get married in Mexico? And when you come back, will you have a wife?" We get to hear audible sounds of amusement as this question is asked. Cox replies, "I will not get married in Mexico. No one in here has to worry about me coming back with a wife." This statement gets the students excited, prompting Cox to shush them.
One of his students adorably states, "You're literally making me cry." The video concludes with Cox expressing, "I will miss you a lot. I will not forget any of you. I promise." People loved the heart-melting interaction and shared their thoughts in the comments section. @shwl00 said, "The worst part of being a teacher is this! When you have to say goodbye to our little kids for any reason." @born2bgr8too highlighted, "'I will not forget you, I promise.' These kids seem to genuinely care about you."
Another individual, @brown_53104, shared, "I lived in Puebla, Mexico, for four months teaching English too! With the ILP program, actually!! It was the best experience of my life!! All the best, brother! Puebla is gorgeous." @kaymendoza26 commented, "Teaching English abroad can be such a vibe. I teach in Korea, but I wanna teach in a Latin country at some point." @jozef0212 said, "How is no one crying? I was teaching for two months and we all cried our eyes out on my last day."
