I'm unbelievably thankful and thanks so much for trusting." to this, the stranger gave the most wholesome response, "No problem. As to repayment, one of two ways. Either keep the money, but at some stage in the future, when you have graduated and become rich, you remember the kindness that a stranger showed you and help someone in need." As for the second option, the other man added, "Or repay me, but I would prefer the first option." This response left the internet community awestruck.

In a related story, a woman seized an opportunity to help a stranger by paying $5 for his meal. About a year later, she received the most heartwarming message from that person and shared it on Reddit. He wrote that he was grateful for what she did for him. He then told her that he was an honors graduate, working as an assistant part-time lecturer on a low income. The message read, "I'm here to tell you, when I'm alright, I'll never forget you." The woman was in tears after reading this text. The stranger also told her, "You might've thought it was a small amount, but to me, there was a huge difference from that day."

People found the whole incident beautiful. u/WildRabbitz commented, "Sometimes, we have no idea how a small gesture can have such a big impact on someone's life. The fact that he remembered your gesture and wanted to follow up with you to thank you is genuinely beautiful." u/BabyAnimal_11 wrote, "That's really nice. This person is still reflecting on your kindness a year later. It meant a lot to them and probably helped lift their spirits when they were down. Good for you, kindness is a beautiful thing."
