David Shoemaker received his degree in Master of Entrepreneurial Ventures during the commencement at Central Michigan University on December 17. But he had a bigger reason to celebrate the day. He proposed to his girlfriend Ryann Swann, and she said yes. They have been together for the last three years, as reported by CBS Detroit.

CMU President Bob Davies in front of the audience said, "I think she said yes!" This happened when Shoemaker was standing on the stage during the commencement, his family and Swann joined him to congratulate him. That’s when Shoemaker took Swann’s hand and asked her to marry him. Swann said that she “was not expecting it at all.” "It was crazy. It was one of the happiest moments of my life," said Shoemaker.

They had first met at Central Michigan University in the Towers Residence Halls three years ago. Swann said, “He pulled the whole he needs help with psychology and that's what I was studying. We became good friends, still didn't think anything of it and the next thing I knew he was asking me out on a date.” The duo dated throughout college and in May, they both graduated with their bachelor's degrees. Shoemaker finished his degree in Entrepreneurship and Swann in Psychology and Sociology with a Concentration in Youth Studies. Shoemaker said, “She’s the love of my life.”

He planned the proposal for the commencement and said, "Yeah, I couldn't have done it without President Davies help and all the CMU staff. I've been planning it since September emailing back and forth with them." Swann said that she’s “still in shock honestly. I’m very happy.”

The couple is now staying in Northville and they are excited about the future. Shoemaker added, "Ry is finishing up her master's degree." "We want to get a house eventually and we want to travel too," said Swann. The two are already planning their wedding and want to get married in the summer of 2024. In another heartwarming proposal, Stephanie and Jesse met on October 29, 2016, and hit it off immediately. Within a month, they were dating and less than a year later Jesse was all set to pop the question to Stephanie, 33. Jesse Larson, 29, was stationed on a US submarine based out of Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in Silverdale, Washington. He was on a transfer leave from Washington to shore duty in Rhode Island when he drove to Iowa to surprise his girlfriend and stepdaughter Skylar King, Jesse told Upworthy in an interview. They had been dating for a year at the time.

Jesse planned everything with the help of his sister-in-law and Santa Claus. "I talked to Santa when I arrived at the mall and he helped hide the ring in his sack of presents. I then hid out in Claire's store for about 35-40 waiting for my sister-in-law to arrive with my wife and daughter. My mother-in-law and father-in-law were also present of course," he recalled. In a video uploaded on Reddit, while Stephanie and Skylar are seen clicking a picture with Santa, Jesse then surprises them and Stephanie is left speechless. Then they click a picture with Santa together. Santa then hands over the ring box to Jesse. He then gets down on one knee before proposing to Stephanie. "Will you marry me?" he asks, and she said, "Yes." The video went viral on Reddit with many hailing it as one of the most romantic proposals they'd seen.
