The stranger, living thousands of miles away, didn't think twice before fulfilling the wish of the woman.
Sometimes we spot interesting items on the window display of the shops and as time goes by, we regret not buying those items. This is exactly what happened to Celia, @CeliaBedelia on X. She took to the platform to reminisce about her trip to Iceland where she spotted a sweater she regretted not purchasing. But little did Celia know that a kind stranger on the internet would connect with her over her post on social media with a thoughtful surprise.
"My daughter asked, 'Do you ever have any regrets, Mom?' And while I knew she was asking this question on a philosophical level, my mind immediately went to this puffin sweater I saw in Iceland. It’s been 3 years since I saw it in a shop there and I still regret not buying it," Celia wrote on her post alongside and the image of the particular sweater she was referring to. Puffins are species of birds also known as sea parrots due to their brightly colored beaks and are mainly found on rocky coasts and offshore of Iceland, Norway, Britain and Ireland, per WWF.

The post quickly gained a lot of popularity, amassing over 4 million views and caught the attention of filmmaker Dave Wiskus. Wiskus (@dwiskus) dropped a comment on Celia's post and made an unexpected reveal. “My regret is that I bought this exact sweater for my wife two years ago. She has worn it zero times,” Wiskus wrote. “I’m in NYC. Cover shipping and it’s yours.” Celia was left stunned at Wiskus' generosity.
In a follow-up post, Celia shared her photo wearing the grey sweater, proving that Wiskus successfully shipped it to her as promised. "People are amazing! Just 10 days ago, I shared a thought about one of my regrets in life. Of course, not buying a sweater sounds like a minor regret but so many people could relate! And then @dwiskus made my wish a reality. This sweater made it from NYC to Berlin in record time!" Celia shared in her second post.

While answering people in her comment section, Celia mentioned that the sweater even fit her perfectly and the original sweater was handmade and sold at a little shop near the Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland. She had also spotted several puffins while visiting Vestmannaeyjar in the Westman Islands area of the country. People on the internet were delighted to find that Celia's little wish was fulfilled and they left wholesome comments for her. @xelocin commented, "I’ve been thinking about this ever since you posted. This makes me so happy to hear. Absolute legend, Dave."
@Byjessiemills shared, "This is incredible. Maybe we should all try it. One of my biggest regrets is not becoming an artist in downtown New York and, very specifically, living in the outsized Soho apartment in the film Big." @Lyn_Boyer recalled, "Great. I could relate to the original post. Years ago in Florence, my husband said I should come back the next day to buy the sandals I loved. The next day the market was closed, and we had to leave. I don’t remember anything about them except the disappointment." @dkern2009 added, "This entire thread just made my day. I traveled twice to Europe and tried to take a boat to go and see Puffins but both times the water and weather were too rough. Love the sweater and I love people today."
When we went to Vestmannaeyjar (The Westman Islands), the guide for @eyjatours told us about this book and how this really happens on their island. He loved his island and was an incredible guide! (And we bought the book. ☺️)
