Stepdad accidentally records priceless moment stepson says ‘I love you’ for the very first time

It is often hard for children to warm up to their step-parents and fully accept them. While it takes time, when they do, they sometimes develop such a strong bond that they might as well be related by blood. A stepdad was able to witness the same in a heartwarming moment when his toddler stepson expressed his love for him for the very first time. A duo that goes by the name @anxietycouple on TikTok shared footage of their toddler and the stepdad. Although the precious moment was captured by mere coincidence by the home camera, it is a core memory that the duo surely holds onto even today. 

The stepdad was in the kitchen busy with some chores when the little boy very casually popped into the kitchen and almost as if a habit said, “Bye Scott.” The stepdad responded to him, still engrossed in his work. He didn’t notice when the boy reached up to his back, gave him a side hug and spontaneously said, “Love you.” Immediately after the hug, the child left as if nothing had happened. However, the dad's heart rose in a joyful echo. “What?!” he exclaimed, as he stopped his work and turned around to see his stepson already gone. He looked on as the boy hurriedly left and stared in disbelief. 

Soon the mom came into the space he was in and he eagerly broke the news to her. Doing aggressively excited air punches, he went to his wife like a chirpy child and said, “You know what he said to me today?” The stepdad was too happy to even be still and was constantly moving excitedly as he spoke. The mom realized it was something wonderful that he had to share and chuckled and asked, “What?” “He said, ‘Love you,’” the stepdad victoriously announced. “What?” the mom asked, with a wide smile. Anticipating her confusion, the stepdad broke down the entire scenario detail by detail to the mom. 

“He came, he gave me a hug, said ‘love you’ and left,” he exclaimed. For the stepdad, it was like he had won a long-earned prize. He high-fived his wife in complete pride, feeling emotional yet super pleased. “This is so wholesome! Best stepdad ever,” the caption read. People were overjoyed at the stepdad’s reaction. Many were happy for him as the boy’s expression was a form of his acceptance of his stepdad. Others congratulated the dad and were awestruck by his raw joy. @olgebsilva exclaimed, “The fact that he was so happy when he got told, ‘Love you,’ that he told his wife about it makes me so happy!”
