Some coworkers go above and beyond to test limits. An individual who goes by Moon (@corgiddy) on Threads experienced something similar when Kira, one of their former colleagues, continued intruding on their work life until she was terminated. The chaos began when Kira approached management, accusing the author of practicing "favoritism" in the office. Moon ignored her the first few times, but then Kira crossed all boundaries by stealing their favorite Starbucks energy drink in broad daylight. The post was shared on July 7 and has received over 14,000 online.

The constant intrusion

The author worked in a small office with a handful of people and maintained a cordial relationship with Kira despite not liking her. However, as days passed, they grew frustrated by the constant intervention. It began with small things — taking a pen from the author's backpack without asking, requesting food, etc. Kira would often "huff and puff" when she was called out. One time, Kira's husband said he would be late picking her up. Instead of requesting a ride, "she followed me. Tried to open my passenger seat," the author recalled, even though Kira lived 45 minutes away in the opposite direction.  Months later, when Andrew, another coworker, had a flat tire, the author gave them a ride because they lived on the same street. Kira saw it as favoritism and complained to the manager. During the meeting, the author warned Kira to maintain some distance.

The Starbucks thief

Months after the ride incident, a friend picked up the author for lunch. Kira wanted to tag along, but the author refused. She asked them to text her the name of the place so she could place a to-go order. The author declined it again and left. Dissatisfied, Kira complained to the manager that the author was being "rude." At first, management tried to resolve the issue by moving the author to an earlier shift. Everything went on for a while until one fine day, Kira crossed all boundaries.

The author had gone to the bathroom and, upon returning, noticed their energy drink was missing. They realized Kira had taken it from their desk. When the author confronted her, "She said she saw it out in the open and thought it was for everybody... [She] claimed she didn't see a name on it. "But Moon had already written their name on the bottom. The author immediately reported the incident to HR, and eventually Kira was suspended.

Office pet peeves

Kickresume surveyed 2,894 employees in 2024 to understand the main reasons why people get frustrated at work. Surprisingly, the majority (85%) confessed to having an annoying coworker, and 62% said they deal with annoying behavior directly in the office. Additionally, 41% even admitted they wanted to tell their annoying coworker what they thought of them, and some even wanted them to get fired. While Moon was annoyed with Kira, they did not rush to HR every time she did something wrong. However, Moon later found out from Andrew that Kira was fired for shouting at a girl for not doing something correctly.

'Big bad wolf'

People were surprised by Kira's audacity to involve HR when she was clearly in the wrong in most situations. @relativeturnip commented, "The walking to your car without saying a word and assuming she would just hop in had me, but asking for an order to go?" @paintednebula wrote, "Damn, I thought my coworker was sh*tty because she would turn the AC up instead of taking off her sweater, and then told me to gain weight when I said I was cold. And one time she left her coffee out over the weekend; it smelled like rotten milk, and she basically ignored me when I asked her to get rid of it. But this definitely beats all that!"
