On August 25, 2026, an anonymous lady sent a story to the Call The Girls Podcast (@callthegirlspodcast), sharing how a stranger's text almost ended her relationship. She said she and her now-husband, Rick, have been together for a decade, but they faced their first challenge very early on in the relationship. Only two weeks into dating, the woman received a text message from a woman named ''Annie." She introduced herself as Rick's girlfriend and said they'd been together for five years. The woman believed her and was about to break up with Rick when he pulled out his phone to prove his innocence. The video has since received over 250,000 views on Instagram.
Doubts crept in
Everything was great in their relationship. The couple had met in their early 30s, and felt an "instant chemistry." Soon enough, they started going on dates and talking for hours every night. One day, while she was waiting for his call, she received a text message from an unknown number. The lady on the other end introduced herself as Annie and claimed she had been with Rick for five years. Thinking it was true, the woman immediately called Rick to confront him. But before she could say anything, Rick said he knew what she was about to say. In fact, he assured her it wasn't true and that Annie had already told him she was going to talk to her. Rick wanted a chance to explain, so he asked to meet his girlfriend over a coffee.
A shocking obsession
"I was prepared to be met with lame excuses and flimsy proof and wholeheartedly ready to walk out of there," the woman wrote. However, their meeting changed her perception. Rick explained that Annie began working with him five years ago. They met through mutual co-workers and exchanged phone numbers. At first, they exchanged pleasantries when they passed each other in the office, but it slowly became obsessive. It went from casual hellos into full-blown love confessions and 'anniversary' reminders. Rick showed her texts that read, "Today is the anniversary of when we first had lunch, when I first saw you in the elevator, and when we first passed each other." At this point, the woman understood that Annie was obsessed with Rick.
Annie crossed the line
By the time Rick met his girlfriend, he had transferred to another office in the city, which calmed things down. However, when they started dating, Annie started spreading rumors that she had eloped with Rick. In fact, she even wore a wedding ring and faked a pregnancy and a miscarriage. With time, Rick and his girlfriend grew closer, despite Annie trying to drive them apart. However, during a date night, the couple encountered her in a restaurant parking lot. Rick's girlfriend, who later became his wife, had eaten too much and was rubbing her belly. Looking at her, Annie thought she was pregnant and flipped out. She physically assaulted the author. That was when Rick and she involved the police and got a restraining order against Annie. "We do occasionally hear from some of my husband's ex-co-workers… that Annie still wears the wedding ring… and how I am a homewrecker," the woman wrote.

In Rick's case, he was stalked by his co-worker, who continually harassed him through text messages and calls.
