In message that looks to be from olden times, son asks his mom to let his girlfriend stay the night.
Many parents hesitate to let their teens have their partners stay overnight, but sometimes, a touch of humor can change their minds. One Reddit mom, u/Lilith0323, shared her son's hilarious attempt to persuade her. What tickled the internet was his use of old-fashioned language to make his case.
Sharing the screenshot of her son's text message, the mom said, "How my oldest asked if his girlfriend could stay the night." Beginning with "Dearest of mothers," the son wrote, "Due to my spouse's also dearest mother being out of town, I was wondering if you would be so kind as to allow her to stay in our humble abode for the night time and awaken us in the dawn of the morning." He thoughtfully ensured his girlfriend wasn't alone while her mother was out of town. However, he subtly hinted at her laziness, jokingly saying, "It is of all causes, she will not wake up in the morning in due time for her academic activities. Thou is always late due to the inability to awaken herself at dawn."
So, the boy wanted his mom to make sure that his girlfriend made it to school, which he refers to as "prison," on time. "As my dearest of mother, you understand the need to be awake and at the prison doors by 7 am," the son wrote. He then added, "Again, my greatest gratitude would go out to thou for allowing such activities," and reassured his mom that he and his girlfriend would go to sleep by 11 pm. Finally, he pointed out how he would repay her for doing him this favor. The "eldest of sons," emphasized that he would "transport" his mother's "youngest yet least favorite of sons," meaning, his younger brother to school. People loved the boy's witty approach to using ancient English.
"I text my mother exactly like that. Also, have her saved as a 'Venerable Lifegiver.' Man I love my mom she's so fun," said u/myownprod. The mom responded to this comment by saying that her son nicknamed her, 'Ultimate birth giver,' and a 'Legend maker.'" u/om11011shanti11011om remarked in the same ancient style, "Dost thou fret not, perchance, that thine progeny may procreate in thy presence, within the very hearth and home, beguiled and wickedly wanton with the lady's charms?" u/ComfyinDots added, "I'd have replied with the Bugs Bunny 'No.' He seems like a funny, creative kid asking politely and offering to take the least favorite sons to school."
Speaking of courteous young boys looking out for their girlfriends, another mom drove her son for an hour so that he could make his girlfriend's day. Tabi Metivier Nance, who goes by @tabimetiviernance on TikTok, shared a video of her driving her son to a local Ulta beauty store where his girlfriend worked. Since the girl was having a bad day at work, the son wanted to cheer her up. In the since-deleted video, the moment the two love birds met was wholesome as the boy instantly brightened up his girlfriend's day.
