Son honors mother's sacrifices by asking for his medal to be given to her: 'Incredibly moving'

Mothers often sacrifice their own needs, happiness and comfort to raise their kids through numerous difficulties. The selflessness of such mothers is priceless, but the least a child can do is share the reward of their hard work with their mothers. That is exactly what this boy from a viral Reddit video did. u/baconroll2022 shared an emotional yet uplifting video on Reddit that shows moments from a medal distribution ceremony.

There isn't enough context provided along with the video, so the audience can't figure out which country or region this event is taking place in. However, it's pretty certain from the uniforms of the boys receiving the medals that the events are taking place after the conclusion of a sports event. Just as a woman is about to put the medal around the neck of a boy, he asks her to pause for a bit with some hand gestures.

Then he steps down from the small podium as the ceremony continues with the distribution of medals to other boys. The first boy returns with his mother in tow and makes her climb up the podium along with him. The medal is placed around the neck of the boy's mother instead of him, as per his request. The crowd present at the venue claps and cheers for the mother-son duo as they hug on the podium and quickly get down. The Redditors were clearly emotional at this sweet moment between them, as many left positive comments about the son's love and devotion towards his mom.

I worked with a guy who was cousins with the major league baseball player Manny Machado. Leading up to him being drafted, my coworker was telling me about their family back in the Dominican Republic and how his mom sacrificed everything so he could have baseball gear and play. Seeing stuff like this is touching when you stop and think about the sacrifices."

All these sweet mothers who doubtlessly stood by the side of their children to support them through thick and thin need more than just a medal for their contributions. In a similar story, an Ethiopian mother who worked in Lebanon as a maid to sponsor her son's pilot training got the best surprise of her life. The immigrant mom's wholesome reaction was captured while she was boarding the Boeing 737 flight from Beirut Airport and found her son as a pilot on the ET407 flight that was supposed to take her to Addis Ababa, per the Facebook page of Ethiopian Airlines Fanpage. 

After she boarded the flight, a flight attendant pushed back a curtain to reveal her son as the pilot of the flight she was about to travel on. Another individual continued to film the mother and son duo as they embraced each other with hugs, smiles and tears of happiness. The unsuspecting mom also receives a big bouquet of flowers and a cake from her son and a bottle of champagne is popped open by a flight attendant to celebrate the sweet moment.
