We don't need a million to believe in us, and only one real supporter is enough to take us to new heights. For Victor Osimhen, a Nigerian footballer, that special someone was his teacher, Mrs. Augustina Atanda (née Okwechime). He was in school when he first realized his passion for soccer, but his father dismissed him, calling the game a pastime for dropouts. Right then, it was Victor's teacher who stepped in to convince his dad, ensuring he followed his dreams, reports Prime Business Africa

Victor was in secondary school when his father opposed his wish to play football. Disheartened by his dad's reaction, he went to his Games Master at Oregon Senior High School, Ikeja, Lagos, Mrs. Augustina Atanda, for help. Victor's teacher, a sports enthusiast herself, realized his ambition and decided to convince his father. Mrs. Augustina Atanda went to speak to Victor's dad and said she would personally train his son. It was tough to convince his father, but he agreed somehow after some persuasion. If not for her, then Victor wouldn't have been able to chase his dreams and eventually become a well-known soccer player.

Years later, he visited his school and met the teacher who was the first to give his dream the wings it needed. In the video, Victor went to greet Mrs. Augustina Atanda, who smiled before pulling him in for a heartfelt hug. The profound moment spoke volumes about their bond. Victor seemed emotional, perhaps thinking about all that could have happened if his teacher hadn't supported him. Likewise, his teacher was beaming with pride.

According to The Educator Australia, a US study revealed that 61% of students never told their favorite teacher how much they meant to them. This shows how people miss the opportunity to reconnect and thank our teachers for their unwavering support. Luckily, Victor didn't let go of the opportunity and took some time to meet the woman who made him the man he is today.

Meanwhile, reacting to the beautiful video of Osimhen visiting his teacher, @tegadeyforyou commented, "People may not really realize just how much it means for someone to believe in you, but it means a whole lot when a person believes in your dreams and does what they can to support that dream. God bless her!" @akiperrez commented, "This is interesting and encouraging. I hope the youths will emulate such character and always go back to show appreciation to their teachers rather than always making a mockery of them after succeeding. Teachers, mostly at primary/secondary schools, play a very vital role in our lives."

A user who goes by @kabiru04051970 wrote, "Whoever pays respect to elders will always be blessed. What Victor is doing will be rewarded by God for being a very humble guy. Keep it up, brother. God is always by your side." Echoing the sentiments, @ootw_space commented, "Nothing beats the beauty in the eyes of adults when they see their young ones successful years later." @mamaposh1 pointed out, "Mothers will always be that. See the way she’s pulling his chin & cheeks. Rivers that do not forget their source never run dry."
