Many parents struggle to deal with their children not paying attention to them, often feeling neglected by their much-needed support. Without any expectations, these caregivers spend their entire lives taking care of their kids. Yet, they often manage their lives alone as their children grow older. In a rare instance, a man’s luck was on his side when his little girl understood his unexpressed emotions. The single father—who goes by u/ZombroAlpha on Reddit—was recently surprised by his daughter after he returned home from a not-so-good day at work. The wholesome gesture became an inflection point for the depressed dad, as it boosted his morale.

A widely circulating post showed his daughter’s kindness towards her father amidst a rough patch in his life. The little girl posted a note outside his bedroom asking him to check the bathroom. “I’m a single dad, at a very low point in life now, but I got home today and found this, made by my daughter,” the dad of two wrote, revealing his little one’s heartfelt surprise.

The tween saw her father’s suppressed feelings and left a message for him on his bathroom mirror. “It’s hard to see, but this is the message she left on my bathroom mirror in dry-erase marker,” the man captioned his post, which garnered around 42,000 upvotes.

Adding to the reveal, he included another picture that hailed him as “the best person (Daddy) in the world.” The image showed the bathroom mirror filled with encouraging and motivational words. “You are the absolute BEST Daddy I’ve EVER seen, and I NEVER want you to be sad,” praised his daughter, Leia. This simple act of uplifting her dad’s spirits earned the girl widespread applause on social media. In the comments section, the father of two little girls admitted that they were the only thing keeping him going, despite all the challenges in his life. When someone asked the sole caregiver about his support system, he explained, “Yes, fortunately my family lives close by. I’m also going to therapy and I have a psychiatrist. My little girls are the reason I will keep going.” When another commentator pointed out that the message sounded like his little girl knew he needed a pick-me-up, he acknowledged, “It made me cry immediately; lol, I’m a very lucky daddy.”

Emphasizing that the man’s daughter was so in sync with his emotions, u/Spice-Mice remarked, “It’s a gesture to make your day better and says a lot about your parenting. I can't imagine how hard being a single parent must be, but you're clearly doing a wonderful job.”

“It is tough sometimes, but having kids this amazing makes it so much easier. Not just raising them, but life in general,” the single dad responded. Another individual, u/defalt86, made a cheeky remark, saying, “Damn it! I thought I was the best dad. Enjoy your crown while I go buy my daughter a pony.” Leia’s caregiver humorously replied, saying, “We’ll share the throne, lol.” Asking if he’d ever be able to clean that mirror again, u/Ja_Knit remarked, “You will have to take it with you when you move.” The father agreed, claiming, “I’m going to get a tattoo of it for sure, though.”
