It's not easy to raise a child, especially when you are a single parent trying to manage everything alone. From taking care of the kids to managing finances, single parents shoulder dual duties every single day. While navigating life single-handedly has its own challenges, having supportive people around makes the journey a little easier. This profound truth was highlighted when someone who goes by @original_vaughn on Twitter shared a heartwarming picture of their professor helping out a single dad in his class.

When Nathan Alexander, visiting professor at Morehouse College, saw a student, Wayne Hayer, in his class struggling to take notes while handling his baby, he immediately reached out to help. Without a second thought, Alexander said, "I’ll hold her so you can take good notes!" In the wholesome picture, the professor of Mathematics Teaching was captured gently holding the infant in a baby carrier during his lecture. Notably, the baby girl, too, looked very comfortable in Alexander's arms, as if she had known him for years. Meanwhile, Alexander, as per a report in CNN, revealed that Assata, then a 5-month-old baby, was very well behaved as she didn't disturb his class at all. "She was really well-behaved and even started to fall asleep at the end. We had a bottle ready on standby, if needed. We enjoyed having her energy in class," he added.

The post received an outpouring of love with people appreciating the professor for this meaningful gesture. For example, @rfgesq commented, "Wouldn’t it be nice if more people were like Prof. Nathan Alexander? A kind gesture goes a long way." Similarly, @ronpopemusic said, "Professor Alexander, this is wonderful. My parents were both in college when I was a boy. 'Auditing' those classes as a child normalized higher education for my brother & me. Bravo for being so understanding. Families like mine are lifted up by teachers like you. Many blessings." @sigstatshorses said, "Did it myself 2 years ago. One of our students was sitting a controlled assessment but couldn’t get childcare. I just pushed and rocked. Biggest credit went to the student for being brave, coming in, explaining, then passing the assessment under difficult circumstances."

@bellerideaux pointed out, "I’m always impressed that the babies stay quiet with the professors in these posts. Like, there’s never one where the baby screams and reaches for the parent and won’t stay put until Mom takes them back from the proff. lol. I guess they can sense the positive energy." @hilarywithoneh revealed, "One of my citizenship students brought her kids with her to class last week. They were so well-behaved, and I made them space on the whiteboard in the back of the room and gave them markers, and they were as happy as can be. I’ve been there. Most parents have. Let’s lift each other up."

On the other hand, @xoxobarbii commented, "Teachers like @professornaite are the reason I keep going to class. Without professors who are willing to help, there would be no place for people like me in college (those who need help, guidance, and encouragement). I hope to become a professor like you one day!" @fatblackdiva wrote, "This is lovely and kind and makes an adorable photo. I just wish we provided plentiful, free/low-cost, quality childcare so no parent has to make these choices to be sure their beautiful babies will be safe and well cared for." The US Census Bureau stated, "A brief drawing of available data across 47 states show child care prices for a single child ranged from $4,810 a year for school-age home-based care in small counties to $15,417 for infant center-based care in very large counties... These price ranges were equivalent to between 8% and 19.3% of median family income per child in paid care." Professors who make space for such disadvantages, are the real heroes for modern day students!
