Many people dream of working for organizations known for their stellar work ethics and employee treatment. Singapore Airlines employees seem to have hit the jackpot, with the airline reportedly awarding bonuses worth nearly eight months' salary. Air travel demand remained strong as Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan fully reopened their borders post-pandemic, according to Singapore Airlines' earnings statement. This isn't the first good news for the airline—they were named the world's best airline in 2023 by Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking the fifth time they've topped the global rankings.
The airline's CEO, Goh Choon Phong, credits the entire staff who worked tirelessly to ensure they handled the increasing demand for air travel properly. He said, "That has allowed us to emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic." The general aviation sector is seeing a big boom as Singapore Airlines is not the only organization giving employees such a hefty bonus. Dubai's Emirates will also give their staff a bonus that equates to roughly 20 weeks' salary, per Reuters.
