Sia reveals she adopted 2 teen boys who were aging out of the foster care system: 'I love them'

Sia is a mom to two 19-year-old boys! The "Cheap Thrills" singer revealed in a recent interview that she'd welcomed two teen boys into her family last year. Speaking to SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up on Tuesday, the 44-year-old shared that she adopted the then 18-year-olds when they were leaving foster care due to their age. "I actually adopted two sons last year. They were both 18 — they're both 19 years old now," she said. "They were aging out of the foster care system. Yeah, and I love them."

The pop star also spoke about how life has been for the family amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Sia revealed that one of her sons has been finding it harder than the other to cope with life at home amid the lockdown, as most places are closed due to the health crisis. "They are both finding it pretty difficult, one more so than the other. But they're both doing things that are really good for them right now, that are really helpful. They're really doing a lot of educational stuff that's good for them," the "Chandelier" singer explained. 

The notoriously private singer did not reveal the boys' names or discuss them further in the interview. This isn't the first time Sia has alluded to her becoming a parent. According to Daily Mail, she first revealed she'd become an adoptive-mother in January while talking to GQ about her relationship status and sex life. Speaking of her longtime friend, DJ and producer Diplo, Sia said: "I wrote him a text, and I said, "Hey, listen, you're like one of five people that I'm sexually attracted to, and now that I've decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don't have time for a relationship... If you're interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.'"

News of Sia's expanded family comes almost an entire year after the pop star offered to adopt Dasani, a 16-year-old who was featured in HBO documentary Foster, which explored the foster care system from the perspective of foster children and caregivers living in Los Angeles County. In a since-deleted tweet last May, Sia wrote: Hey Dasani from 'FOSTER' on HBO! I'd like to adopt you. We're just trying to find you and get my house check done etc. But I want you to know you will have a home with me. It is unclear whether the adoption went through and if Dasani is one of Sia's two sons now.

Sia was previously married to documentarian Erik Lang before the couple called it quits in 2016. "After much soul searching and consideration we have made the decision to separate as a couple," the former spouses told PEOPLE in a statement through her representative at the time. "We are, however, dedicated to remaining friends. There will be no further comment." News of Sia adopting the teens gained her much praise on Twitter. Love this.
