Infidelity breaks even the strongest relationships, no matter how old they are. A woman named Erin Iveson (@eriniveson) was on the receiving end of one such blow. On TikTok, she shared the whole incident of how her same-sex partner dumped her for her assistant after 7 years of dating. What makes the story even more heartbreaking is the fact that Iveson had been planning to propose on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro just before finding out about her girlfriend's affair. In a 21-part video series, she elaborated on instances that led to their breakup. The first part, posted on June 6, 2026, has so far received a whopping 4.6 million views and over 389,000 likes.

From Kilimanjaro to Crossroads

Iveson and her partner, whom she referred to as “A,” had been together for years and never argued about anything except for kids. While A wanted to raise their own kids, Iveson wanted to be childfree. Despite differences, everything was going pretty well in their relationship. In fact, Iveson had even planned to propose to her partner on top of Mount Kilimanjaro. But a couple of years later, her partner brought up the topic of kids again, and this time Iveson also agreed for her own happiness. As time passed, Iveson noticed her partner's behavior changing. In fact, she was prioritizing her friends, especially a coworker, K, over their relationship.

The confession

Frustrated, Iveson confronted A, and she finally confessed to having feelings for K. Moreover, she also admitted to having physically cheated on Iveson with her coworker. Iveson was obviously devastated, but she decided to give her partner another chance. They tried couples therapy and even made a spreadsheet for fixing their relationship, but somehow nothing worked. By April, Iveson was having panic attacks, full-body convulsions, and episodes of nightmares. She was struggling to eat properly and even had to take counseling for her mental health. Frustrated, Iveson called A's boss and informed them about her infidelity, which left her significant other humiliated at work.

The final goodbye

After fighting till the end, Iveson gave up and decided to break up. “I feel like there is a dagger in my back and I need her to pull it. I need her to let me go if she’s going to let me go,” she said. Fast forward to the present day, and she has broken up with A and calls it “the most lesbian breakup you could ever imagine.” And even though “A” did try to prick her vulnerabilities and patch her up again, viewers are suggesting that Iveson stay away from that woman who made her go through all this.

A sad reality

While the TikTok series might surprise many, unfortunately, infidelity is quite common today. In fact, in a poll of 118 young adults, conducted by Kaneland Krier, 37% reported that they had been cheated on, and 13% admitted that they had cheated on their partners. Similarly, a study cited by the portal and published in Current Psychology revealed that two-thirds of the adults in committed relationships have encountered betrayal from their monogamous partners. And even though A, the betrayer, later apologized to Iveson, such betrayals can have serious emotional consequences for the victim.

Meanwhile, viewers sided with Iveson and shared empathic remarks. For instance, @celineanderson said, “Forgiveness is overrated. You can move on and not forgive. Some things are unforgivable.” Similarly, @slices4everyone said, “I never understood fighting this hard for someone who clearly isn’t fighting back at all. Just walk away at this point.”
