She was indeed in some danger, and the netizens explained how.

More often than not, bartenders catch danger before anybody else. In fact, they can read the room with expert intuition and protect people from the creeps at a bar. A woman, who goes by @jenndeanmusic on TikTok, realized it only when she went to the bar alone. She was relishing her food, oblivious to a possible danger around her. However, it was when she ordered water, and the bartender gave her something unexpected, that she understood the quiet gesture. She shared the story on her account on December 11, where several users echoed their own tales.

The woman was at Applebee's when she ordered water; she didn't mention whether she needed a glass or a bottle. The bartender, however, gave her a sealed package of drinking water. But the real weirdness happened when he gave the guy next to her table a glass of water instead of a bottle. The woman didn't understand why a bartender would do that, and was worried someone unsafe was near her. Interestingly, the bartender didn't even charge the woman for the water bottle. "Am I overthinking or is this weird?" she asked, but guess what? The woman was right!

She was indeed in some danger, and the netizens explained how. Many bartenders instantly recognized the kind gesture of the man and informed the woman that he was basically trying to protect her from some creep. Many bars and restaurants worldwide follow certain secret codes to protect their customers, especially women. For instance, the most popular safety measure is the "angel shot." So, when a customer feels unsafe, they order an angel shot, a secret signal for help. There are different types of Angel shots depending on the situation. If a customer adds "Neat," that means they need an escort to the car. Moreover, "Ice/on the rocks" means call for a taxi, while "Twist/Lemon/Lime" indicates call the police, according to WebstaurantStore.

Meanwhile, reacting to the viral TikTok video, @hickawaisunavailable commented, "I used to be a bouncer, and the bar only does things like that if they get a weird vibe from other people at the bar. We can't throw people out for having a weird vibe to them. But we can take easy precautions around them." @crankyhamster13 wrote, "Someone was giving that bartender bad vibes. They’re trying to protect you without risking their job." @dreaming.of.sleep said, "How is this difficult? It's so you know it hasn't been tampered with. He gave the guy a glass because it just doesn't happen to men nearly as much as women."

Similarly, @divebartender commented, "Another bartender here, I will slide a glass of water to a customer if I feel they have been drinking too much/too fast/seem drunk. It's like the unspoken rule: if you get a glass of water, you need to slow down." @danisewcozy said, "I would take it as a green flag, since a bottle is 'safer.' Maybe someone around was giving off weird vibes or something, and the bartender was trying to help you avoid someone spiking your drink." @ilikeeggs42069 Nice said, "Bartenders are truly the best. I was seeing someone for a bit, and we went out to a bar. When the bartender IDed me, he turned to the guy I was with and said, 'No need, I remember yours from last night with the other girl.' Forever grateful to that bartender."
