Grandson sent his new song to grandma who lost her voice to cancer. She broke down when she heard her own voice in it

Moe June's (@moejuneofficial) granny lost her voice to cancer and thought she wouldn't hear it ever again. But guess what? She was wrong because her grandson had other plans. In a heartfelt tribute to his grandmother, June used her old voicemail and sampled it in his song. Her reaction? Well, it was nothing short of a toddler getting their favorite candy. The Instagram video, posted in July 2025, has over 4 million views.

June was obviously close with his granny and was aware that losing her voice had left a hollow space that nobody could fill. He wanted to make her feel special and honor their shared bond through his new song, "Healing." June had saved a voicemail his granny had sent to him five years ago, and realized he could sample it for his song. Thankfully, June accomplished what he had envisioned and decided to surprise his grandmother.

He made his granny sit in front of his desktop and played the song without informing her about her voicemail. As the song began, she looked thrilled and enjoyed every bit of the masterpiece her grandson had created. And then, she heard what she had never expected — "Give me a call, please. I love you!" June's granny immediately realized that it was her own voice sampled from the voicemail she'd sent him. She was shocked, happy, and sad — a whirlpool of emotions that overwhelmed her all at once. "Def been challenging for her and the family, but she’s stronger than ever..." June wrote in the caption.

Losing your voice may feel like losing your identity. It's like you have lost an integral part of existence — the ability to interact and communicate — and that's terrifying. To understand what people who have lost their voice feel, Ho Kyung Lee, Heather Shaw Bonilha, and Ickpyo Hong surveyed 23,706 adults from the 2022 National Health Interview Survey database. They found that those with voice problems were nearly twice as likely to experience depressive symptoms compared to those without voice problems. In fact, they realized that the depressive symptoms increased with the severity and duration of the voice problem.

Meanwhile, reacting to the tear-jerking video, @cvp.nyc wrote, "Her expression is priceless; keep making her proud!" @hairbybobby commented, "OMG, it is just amazing, so thoughtful. Your grandmother is amazing. A true definition of a soldier is to be her age and to lose your voice; she got a purpose." @nikki.baby19 said, "She felt that; he felt that, and WE all felt that! I am praying for Nana! Dope song; you gave her her flowers while she was still living."

Echoing the sentiments, @carnivalthuggalettes wrote, "She just said so much without uttering words. Pride, love, and grief all rolled into one." Praising June, @dbbakedasf_4420 said, "You are an amazing grandson, man. Keep making your family proud, dude; keep it up." Similarly, @tovar.josephemio533 commented, "It's sad that somebody can forget their own voice; you're an angel." @_shaydarling confessed, "I want to hug her. She seems so sweet, and the song was fire!" @lovems.ghost wrote, "This got me crying! Yes, take care of Grandma and let her know how special she is! I miss mine so much! Love this!"
