But sadly, for a woman (u/notacroockshank) who stopped for a quick grocery run, brushing off a stranger's foul-mouthed collision wasn't that straightforward. While she was browsing the aisle for everything she needed, a distracted man slammed into her and started yelling insults. The woman tried to laugh it off until she met him again in the parking lot. The rude stranger kept making unnecessary remarks about her appearance, but what shocked her more was his girlfriend's unusual silence. The post shared on September 13, 2026, has received 9,000 upvotes on Reddit.
A stranger lost his temper
The routine grocery run turned intense within seconds. After a distracted male customer slammed into the author, she brushed it off with a smile. However, instead of apologizing, he turned venomous. "F*****g ugly b***h," he yelled at her and then told her to storm off. Stunned by the disproportionate hostility over an everyday misstep, the woman let out an incredulous chuckle, refusing to feed his unnecessary anger, and turned back to finish her shopping.
The peace, however, didn't last long. Moments later, the woman heard someone yelling in the store and realized it was the same man pointing fingers at her. He was basically badmouthing her to his girlfriend. But the author refused to let him ruin her day. "I blew him a kiss and continued on my way," she said.
The harassment continued
The bad timing, however, culminated in the parking lot. "With my luck, that man and his girlfriend were parked right next to me in the parking lot," the woman noted. He quickly ambushed her the moment she reached the car doors. This time, his verbal barrage had grown darker and more violent. "The man started screaming at me again that I should kill myself because I’m so ugly," the woman recalled. Despite the constant insults, the author refused to fight back. She silently clicked a picture of his vehicle and told him, "He really needed to get some help." The woman then chatted with the security on her way and headed home. When everything finally calmed down, she reflected on something more frightening.
His silent girlfriend
The author's calm outlook vanished the moment she looked beyond the shouting man. Throughout the volatile outburst, she realized that his girlfriend was standing motionless beside him, looking visibly traumatized. "What I’m really concerned about is this man’s girlfriend," she revealed. Concerned for her safety, she called the non-emergency line and informed a police officer about the man. In her post, the woman said she was worried that the rude man must be misbehaving with his girlfriend at home, which is why she looked so terrified.
The woman did the right thing because, unfortunately, violence against women is quite common in the United States. According to a CDC study, nearly 1 in 3 women, roughly about 43.5 million, are affected by sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner each year. This includes 19.7% of women who have experienced sexual violence, 22.5% of women who have experienced physical violence, and 12.2% of women who were stalked. Yet most passersby ignore reporting such red flags; thankfully, the author didn't.
