Woman ignored TikTok DMs from a man offering dinner and a Mexico trip — until his Caterpillar hat led her to his fiancée of 2 weeks at a bar

Cat Limket had ignored the man only to confront him face-to-face

It is not uncommon for guys to be left on read after sending a message, especially on social media. Cat Limket (@bigkittyenergy), a content creator, shared that she received a compliment from a stranger in her DMs. She thanked him, but he took it as a sign to double down and leave her several messages. He sent her a photo of himself wearing a Caterpillar hat, then offered to take her to dinner and even a trip to Mexico. Limket ignored the man's advances, but a few weeks later, she saw him at a bar wearing the same hat. That was when she found out he lived a very different life outside of social media. The video was shared on September 8, 2025, and it racked up 8.8 million views, 1.2 million likes, and 12,100 comments.

CAT hat for Cat

It all began with one reply. The man complimented Limket's content, beauty, and humor, and she thanked him for following her. A day later, he messaged again, but she ignored him since the account had no bio or profile picture. On the third day, he sent her a photo of himself wearing a Caterpillar (CAT) hat, followed by, "Hey, this is me. I also live in L.A., and I would love to take you out sometime."

He added that he wore the hat especially for her, since her name was Cat. He then sent her his LinkedIn account as proof he was not catfishing her. Limket got busy and forgot to respond to the message. Instead of taking the hint, he triple-texted her, showered her with compliments, and asked if he could take her to Mexico on a date, but Limket never responded.

Blinded by the ring

A few days later, Limket was at a local bar having drinks with a friend when a loud woman caught her attention. She turned around and saw a group of people sitting four tables over. One of the men wore a 'CAT' hat, but after a closer look, he looked familiar. She pulled up the photo from her DMs and showed it to her friend, who confirmed it was the same man by the tattoo on his arm.

Limket was slightly confused about why he would ask her out if he was dating someone. After a while, she went up to the bar to get some drinks when the woman and her friend joined. Limket was not going to say anything, but then she noticed something shining. "I'm momentarily blinded. I look over, and I notice the girl has a huge ass engagement ring," she said.

Exposed by the ellipses

Torn between keeping quiet and telling the truth, Limket decided to lead with a few questions to make sure it was the same man. Unfortunately, every single question matched what Limket knew about him. Finally, she showed the woman the DMs, the photo, and the LinkedIn account and found out they had been together for four years and got engaged two weeks ago. When the fiancée confronted her man in front of Limket, he tried to wriggle his way out. But the nail in the coffin was the ellipses in his messages. The fiancée said, "This is how you text because you use ellipses." Even though Limket felt bad, she said, "I will 'Hey girly' anyone, and I would hope that someone would have done the same for me."

The 'hey girly' text

The "Hey girly" text is a modern way of warning another woman about their partner's behavior. Whether you are sending or receiving one, a "hey girly" text often indicates that the person's partner is cheating on them. Limket did not have to send a "hey girly" text but had to do it in person. Additionally, a DatingAdvice.com survey found that the most common ways cheaters get caught were through text messages. Oftentimes partners would check their significant other's phone and find evidence of the affair (22.94%). Others discovered their partner's infidelity because of a hunch (21.83%). Another way is finding out through informants (21.28%). It could be friends, family, children, and even strangers, just in the case of Limket and the fiancée.

Saved that girl

Towards the end of the video, Limket was doubtful if she did the right thing by telling the fiancée. Netizens assured her that the only villain in the story was the man. @will_there_be_cake wrote, "You did nothing wrong. He did." @lexiilles added, "You were meant to run into them! You probably saved that girl so much heartbreak. 4 years is a long time, but imagine being fully married. You did the right thing."
