When they first started dating, he told her that he had deleted Hinge and was fully committed to her, but that couldn't have been more wrong

If relationships came with an expiry date, this one would probably fall under perishable items. In a September 8, 2026 Reddit post, a 33-year-old woman (u/Big_Reward8999) shared how her dating relationship with a man didn’t even pass the 90-day probationary period. When they first started dating, he told her that he had deleted Hinge and was fully committed to her within the first month, and she believed him. But reality struck while she was visiting a brewery with her parents, and she saw him with another woman. Instead of getting mad shared all their dating receipts with her. Her post has since blown up and gotten 10,000 upvotes.
According to the author’s account, the couple were exclusive dating between April and July. By June, she realized that the relationship wasn’t working out, nor was the communication regarding it. Dinners were getting quieter, text messages were becoming breadcrumbs, and there was simply no spark.
A week later, they planned to spend time together on Canada Day. But her boyfriend didn’t speak to her for almost two days and then responded only hours before the event. She confronted him and said, “We’re too old for this behavior; can we please have an honest conversation about what’s going on?”

Although the interaction stopped, the boyfriend continued to ghost her. In August, he reached out to her to apologize just for the sake of it. Then the other day, the author had gone out to a brewery with her parents when she spotted him with another woman. "All he could say was, 'Not right now; this isn’t a good time,' which was met by me saying he had months to tell me what happened, and nothing ever seemed like a 'good time.'" He even said "this is crazy" constantly when she tried to confront him.
Unfazed, the author laid down a whopper of all their dates, the timings, the receipts, and the entire paraphernalia in front of the other woman. Turned out the two had been dating since June, the exact time when tension began to appear in their relationship.
When the author did some calculations, she realized that it was just a week before he told her that he had deleted his dating profile on Hinge. The other woman received the details and said she’d make a careful decision on that. “It took a long time to get my closure, but boy does it feel good to put the puzzle together,” the author said.

Breadcrumbing in modern-day relationships has become extremely common, particularly with dating apps on the rise. In a 2020 study of 626 adults (303 males and 323 females) between 18 and 40, 35.6% said they had experienced breadcrumbing at least once in the previous year, while 19.3% reported being ghosted during the same period. Ghosting is no different and is most common among US adults. Between 13% and 23% of adults have been ghosted by their partners.

Readers were mostly on the author's side, with some arguing that a three-month relationship doesn't depict exclusivity. u/_dontbeascaredycunt said, “You were together three months; that’s not even a relationship. That’s like a blip. Seems a very big reaction to a very minor relationship.” u/what_the_funk_ commented, “Ladies, the man that is for you will never ever leave you feeling confused about how he feels about you. Good luck out there!”
