People think lying to a long-distance partner is easy because they can cover their tracks. But the truth always comes out. Annie-Marie (@itsanniedoll) was cheated on by her long-distance fiancé from Philadelphia in 2024. Now, she's finally ready to talk about "how" she found out. During her trip to the US visiting him, she grabbed her fiancé's iPad to put on some music and saw the Messages app in the background. She tried to brush it off, but one word snagged her attention. A few minutes later, she packed her bags and called an Uber. The video was shared on September 25, 2026, and it had 55,300 views, 3,133 likes, and 94 comments.

@itsanniedoll Part 1 I tried to shorten the first part down. Time goes fast , I can’t believe this was just over 2 years ago now. #ldr #cheater #storytime ♬ original sound - Annie-Marie

'Availability'

Marie visited her fiancé in June 2024. At the time, she was preparing and planning to move to the U.S. from the U.K., for whom she believed was the love of her life. When she landed, he picked her up and showered her with gifts. Nothing seemed off. The following morning, he left for work, and she got up around 9 a.m. While she got dressed, she grabbed his iPad to put on some music. She noticed the Messages app was open but decided not to pry.

"I'm telling myself, 'Annie, there's no need for you to go for it.' This guy had me go to couples counseling, and the counselor told me that it's toxic for me to go through his phone," she said. That's when she saw the word "availability" in one of the chats; she desperately needed to know what the conversation was about.

@itsanniedoll Part 2 I wish it ended there but it doesn’t. Anyways , this is me keeping this bit very vague! I will never forget seeing all those profiles. It took a lot of confidence for me not to internalise it and feel insecure. #cheater #ldr #storytime ♬ original sound - Annie-Marie

A glitch, right?

When Marie opened the chats, most of the messages were deleted. She could not piece the entire conversation together, so she opened Google and typed in the phone number. She was stunned by where it took her. She said, "To my surprise, I was taken to an XX-rated website." She thought it was a glitch and entered the same number again. "It's taken me to an esc*rt booking website...I'm seeing numbers, I'm seeing rates," she recalled. In another video, she explained that the messages were from March, two months before her visit. She admitted their relationship was "rocky" at that time but did not expect the "love of her life" to cheat on her with a s*x worker.

@itsanniedoll Part 3 I would need to make a yt video to really explain this. It was the longest morning ever. #storytime #cheater #ldr #philly ♬ original sound - Annie-Marie

Last message: 2 months ago

Marie had been together with her fiancé for almost three years, but they were on and off. She was convinced he had done this before and started digging. She typed in certain keywords and discovered several other numbers. Every time she entered them on Google, it led to different women. When she got the evidence she needed, she started packing. She did not want to confront him right away. But as luck would have it, he FaceTimed her.

She tried to keep it together, pretending like everything was fine, but eventually brought it up. He immediately became defensive and said the messages were old. She almost believed him if she did not see the most recent message from March. When he realized he was caught, he began yelling and called her crazy. When she left, she had to stay in three different places since she couldn't change her flight. She did not want to risk being found.

@itsanniedoll Last part & here we are today. After having the courage to try and meet someone after that nonsense with Philly ex , I met someone who was worse. Indefinitely is one thing but lying about everything & verbal aggression/control is something that has given me more anxiety, up until right now. #storytime #ex #cheaters #narc ♬ original sound - Annie-Marie

Business or infidelity?

Apparently, some people don't view being involved with s*x workers as cheating. A 2015 YouGov survey asked American adults what they considered cheating. 75% agreed that being involved with an esc*rt is cheating. Of these, 73% of the men and 76% of the women said the same. Besides, Marie’s discovery may have started with a single suspicious word, but she’s far from the only person whose suspicions were confirmed after checking a partner’s device. A YouGov survey found that 33% of Americans who had snooped through a partner’s phone uncovered something they already suspected, while 18% found something they hadn’t expected at all.

'Couples counseling isn't for this'

People were appalled by her ex-fiancé's behavior and gaslighting. In the last part of the series, @jsmx_____ wrote, "No, this must’ve been so traumatizing. Sorry you went through this for real." @sum1saiditinnit commented, "Couples counselling is for married couples of 20+ years trying to work it out for their kids, not this scenario."
