'What's yours will always reach you on time'

Where love is meant to be, it is meant to be, no matter the boundaries of time and distance, and this real-life love story is a prime example of that. One woman named Sarah had almost given up on love when it found her again in the most unexpected way. A man she fell in love with risked his job to hand her a letter for which she had waited for the past two years and then forgotten about it. Their serendipitous romance came to light in an April 20 episode of Channel 4 television show Your Song (@yoursonguk).
Sarah was just 18 when she fell in love with David. From the moment she saw her, no one seemed more adorable. Every day, David, her bus driver, used to drive her back home. “I used to sit on the bus, trying to catch his eye in the rearview mirror,” she recalled, “wondering how on Earth I could get this guy to know that I really, really liked him.” And then came an interval in the romance. For the next two years, she didn’t see him. Then one night, she came across him, and that night changed everything for her.
Sarah was going home from work when a bus drove past her. The horn was blaring unusually, and then she saw him. “And it was him — it was this guy I hadn’t seen in two years,” she described. “And he’s waving like a mad person and comes running around the corner, takes my hand and pushes a bit of paper into it and says, ‘I can’t stop, I’m holding up the traffic,' and he disappears around the corner.”

David had abandoned his bus to slip something in her hands. “I look down, and it’s a letter. I’ve still got the letter, saying maybe we should go out sometime.” That was May 1999, and Sarah and David have been together ever since. Sarah even said that she got free rides for as long as David was the bus driver.
It goes to show that if love is meant to be, it doesn’t always follow a straight path. Research on "lost love" reunions found that 72% of people who reunited with a past partner were still together at the time of the study. Studies also show that people tend to regret not acting on their feelings more than taking the chance, and that intentional decisions in relationships are linked to stronger outcomes. For Sarah, that moment came when she least expected it.

“One of the most romantic things I’ve ever heard,” commented @avaloooo. @hockysa remarked that it’s a "better love story than Twilight.” Another viewer, @_zeeba_s, reflected, “What's yours will always reach you on time.” Sarah’s story was part of the Liverpool story series, and now the team is headed to London and then Birmingham to bring out more fascinating stories, as they revealed in a comment.
