She drew a hopscotch on the sidewalk — and strangers simply couldn’t resist reliving their childhood

A person's creativity might give people a chance to have a little fun as they go about their lives. A woman tapped into a core childhood memory as she drew hopscotch on the street for people to play, dance, and have fun. The way people interacted with the game has warmed many hearts online. The woman, Lu, who goes by @louannkristy on TikTok, shared her process and people's reactions to the hopscotch game through a series of videos.

The woman began by drawing the game's topmost semi-circle and wrote "dance" on it, prompting people to celebrate at the finish line. She then proceeded to draw nine boxes in the usual style before writing "have fun" on the starting point of the board. She wrote all the numbers in order and went inside her house to give strangers a chance to interact with the board the way they wanted. "Stay tuned! Carnival is coming and that can only mean one thing! Carnival hopscotch is back 2025 edition!" the caption explained. In the following videos, the woman shared people's reactions to discovering hopscotch on the sidewalk as they walked to various places.

In one clip, the game was discovered by two women who appeared to be office friends. They took their turns playing hopscotch on one leg and seemed very happy to find it on the street. Another person seemed to be on the way to or from a gym and didn't skip the opportunity to play hopscotch and do a little dance at the end. Next up, a couple walked by and played hopscotch. Three other people immediately joined them and did a little shaky dance as they reached the last tile. The next morning, a runner spotted the board and walked according to the tiles instead of jumping as she passed the board. A mom carrying her child's stuff joined in the fun too and her kid followed. Two children coming back from school decided to play as well. While the boy jumped, the girl walked according to the board.

A boy even went out of his way to play as his mom waited for him with an umbrella. In another clip, another set of people interacted with the game in their own fun way. Almost every person acknowledged the board as they passed by it, regardless of what they were doing and where they were going. A mom even stopped by with her daughters in the car so they could play. She gave it a try after the girls had played. A girl even played the game while talking on her phone. People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the idea.
